“Great Location - Great Value, Clean Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2012

Hotel is situated right in the heart of the town with all amenities a short walk away. Rooms are clean but the fire alarm heads had all been removed on our level. Rooms in the 4000 series are more modern at the rear of the hotel and less likely to be disturbed by the church bell in the square. Rooms on the below ground level where we stayed have no terrace but do have a patio area, but no seating which was a shame. No fridge, english telly, iron, hairdyer or air-con. Always cleaned daily and towels replaced, felt secure. Be prepared for someone to ring your room bell as these look the same as light switches!
Food was what we expected, not labelled, sometimes cold and you nearly always had to clear away your own table. Toast robot - 10 minutes to brown the bread! Plenty of fresh fruit at each meal. Drinks are cheaper to buy outside the hotel as service charge applied in hotel. Service in the main pretty good and hotel always kept clean. Swimming pool on the roof is very compact and un heated.
All in all very good value for money but don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed. Oldy worldy spanish surroundings in a fantastically clean town which helps if you have the weather which we did. Car park is 5 minutes away and you may be hounded by locals asking for money...don't pay coz' it's free. Great base for our holiday and would well recommend visiting Mount Teide and Loro Parque.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear 4000 series - 1st floor are quieter and more modern but lack balcony.

My wife and I had three days of great fun here at the Marquesa. A beautiful old building, comfortable and clean. The breakfast was very good, evening meal not too good but plenty of it. Location excellent. superb value for money

We have visited 19 countries and this is the 4th time we have visited Tenerife and we have never felt the nesessity to write a bad word about a hotel.Marquesa hotel forces this report. We arrived at this hotel after travelling for seven and a half hours. We went to the desk where there were two gentlemen, hereafter known as Moron 1 and Moron 2.We were given our keycard and told to turn left go along the passage turn right and right again to the lift.We did.I pressed 3 floor and the lift went up.The doors opened and found we were on the 5th floor.I thought I had pressed the wrong button,so I pressed 3,the doors closed, the lift went down---to the ground floor,so I pressed 3 again---to the 5th foor This went on for ten minutes until we actualy found the 3 floor. We opened the room door and were met by a blast of cigarette smoke.I told Her Who Must Be Obeyed to look after the cases while I went down the STAIRS to reception to ask for another room.Morons 1 and 2 had a conference and said there was another room and gave me the keycard.I asked Moron 2 if he would help Dearly Beloved to bring the cases down while I looked at the new room, which was ok.When I got back to reception I found Moron 2 had rung my wife in the room to bring the cases down.So I went up to help her .Down we went.2 cases and 2 hand luggage down the passage, past morons 1 and 2,up two steps along another passage,up seven steps and along another passage to our new room.I should mention that I am 72 years old and my better half is 71 and we had no help from these morons.Never mind it will get better!!!!!.Down to dinner to find the choice was one meat or one fish dish. The chips were cold and dry.The potatoes were something else!!.The sweet was a tray of caramel type dish or a small carton of icecream. The fruit looked like it had been rejected by Aldies. This was the same all week. The dining room staff were arrogant and I never heard the words gracias or de nada,or ola.The hotel is advertised as in the pedestrian area of the town. This is true of the front but the back looks down on a busy cobbled street. The rooms have no double glazing. There is a nearby disco that goes on till 5 oclock sunday morning and the bin men empty the bins at one oclock in the morning---3 times a week.Oh by the way BEWARE the rooms have no air conditioning.Puerto De La Cruz is great but, please, dear reader, give this hotel a MISS.

Good very central location, which on the other hand means that there is no possibility to arrive with car/taxi/bus.

The worst was the location of the room, namely 1st floor, which meant, that the terrace was like a roiofless prison, but still there was a possibility to ogle to the terrace and to the room from pool area which was half door upper. May be the floors from 2nd to up are better in this sense. The beds are far from comfortable. The blankets were outworn and unappealing (soviet hostel feeling)

The madrasses were a nightmare: rugged and having a kind of plastic cover. However, cleaning of the rooms satisfactory.

Breakfast typical 3star resort style: ham, cheese, eggs, bread, bacon, bread, yoghurt. Coffee was of low qualitys and juices were like extract.

The overall interior of the common inside areas was nice, old spanish style. Nice roof terrace.
Some of the employees at reception have chosen a low profile of service. Wifi (lowspeed and unreliable) only at reception. PC for customers 1eur/15min.

Room Tip: Don't accect 1st floor rooms of the seaside

We've just got back from spending Xmas and new year at the Marquesa.we booked it as we couldn't get into the Monopol next door.Great location, beautiful old building, sadly the traditional rooms were not used to the hotels best advantage. There is no comfortable lounge area yet there is a wonderful large empty room on the first floor over looking the square,we thought they needed 'The Hotel inspector' to come in and advise on making full use of the amazing lack of usage of the best areas of the Hotel . The bedroom had one tiny drawer by the bed- we had to keep everything except the usual clothes that had to be hung up in our suitcases. The food was awful but they did pull out all the stops for the Gala dinners only sadly the main course was cold.We had to clear our own plates off the table other wise we would never be able to eat at every meal!
All staff were lovely and rooms were very clean. This Hotel is only 3 star, we wanted the location, but there is no comparison with other 3 star Hotels.

Having been to Puerto De La Cruz a couple of years ago we saw this hotel and said next time we come here we are going to stay there - and we did.
Bedrooms - checked in and given a twin in the old part of the hotel, when queried Reception did give us a double in the new part of the hotel. Room smelt of sewerage, was on the ground floor so you could not leave a window open as anyone could just come in to the room. Bathroom tiles missing, only 1 set of towels, when we asked for another set we were given the key to the room next door and told to help ourselves!!!
Food awful, poor selection, luke warm bordering on cold food. Hotel has lovely outside restaurant but for residents you had to eat in dining room at back of hotel with no windows or air-con.
Staff polite but offered no real service.
Positives - location, ideal for beach, bars, restaurants, shops and we didn't let this spoil our holiday but would not be able to recommend staying in the hotel other than for it's location

Spent a week before Xmas 2011 in this hotel and was pleasantly surprised. Chose this hotel based on the fact that it is no "Sheraton or Hilton" but has true Spanish character to it. And this was exactly with this hotel offers: very nice, rustic surroundings, lots of flower arrangements and old paintings. Also very clean and tidy kept.

Hotel reception and waiting personnel were polite and friendly. They even had the patience to wait until I had formed my sentences into Spanish...

Rooms were basic, but ok. Only thing lacking was a minibar/fridge. I luckily got a room on the 4th floor and had a view both to the sea and mountains from my big balcony. Breakfast was ok, but must say that every morning after breakfast I took a stroll to a coffee bar to have a decent cup of coffee.

Best about this hotel is its location. Best in the town, I would say. Shops, restaurants, cafes, beach promenade and swimming pools all are within easy reach. And when sitting in the hotel's terrace either morning, afternoon or evening you could see the whole world walk by - both tourists and local people, some going to beach others to work.
