“Still Top Notch.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

Good warm weather for three weeks in March ensured another excellent stay here.
The staff are utterly outstanding and we have made many really good friends during our many visits.
The former General Manager Alirio Perez has left for pastures new in Fuerteventura and a new GM starts in April.
Hopefully he will be as amiable and guest orientated as his predecessor.
The Oriental Spa Garden is expertly directed by Anne Marie Chauveau and all sorts of treatments and massages are well administered by a team of charming and efficient therapists.
On arrival I had a back problem and was in considerable pain but after three caring treatments all was well....thank you Marta and Jessica.
My wife and I find Hotel Botanico ideal for a completely relaxing holiday as demonstrated by our
reservations of three or four weeks each March,June, September and November/ December.
We already have all reservations in place for this year and next since we see no point in taking risks elsewhere.
There are around ten really decent restaurants within a five to ten minute taxi trip ( see separate reviews).
The gardens are spectacular and are especially attractive when floodlit.
A special commendation to the very efficient smiling staff at Reception ...each one of them goes out of their way to assist with any requests and what's more they always address guests by name..a clear indication of the courtesy and care provided at this luxury hotel.

Just returned from a week at the Botanico and wish we had booked for longer. As other reviewers have said, there is little to fault this hotel. When we first arrived mid afternoon the weather was overcast, no-one out by the pool, in fact there hardly seemed to be any guests around. The grandness of the interior seemed a little overwhelming at first, but by the following morning we felt well and truly settled. It is fair to say that probably 80% of guests are 60+, and evening entertainment tends to reflect this. Staff cannot be faulted. Breakfast superb. The gardens and pool area are beautifully maintained. We ate at the poolside restauant most lunchtimes, and the grill one evening. Several restauants nearby serving a wide range of food to suit all budgets. The spa is out of this world. Not suitable for families, and young couples might find the atmosphere a little stuffy, but for a couple in their early 50's - we loved it! Only change would be to have tea and coffee making facility in room, although you could order via room serice. Will go back again next year for sure.

Room Tip: We were on the 3rd floor in a junior suite looking across to the spa and looking down towards the ap...

All the reports on this wonderful hotel are right so there is little point in repeating them. It has everything you want for a relaxed and pleasant stay. The facilities are superb, the staff are generally very pleasant and are helpfulness personified. The rooms quiet and clean.

It's very difficult to be negative but the guests are mainly of a certain age and the atmosphere can be a trifle staid so I don't believe it would suit most young people. The breakfast buffet has everything although breakfast does tend to be a bit of a scrum. Bearing in mind the number of staff and guests I can't help feeling it would benefit everyone if they provided table service.

Also I put my shoes out to be cleaned one night and they weren't touched. I had to clean them myself. Quelle dommage!

Have just returned from our fourth winter visit to this hotel and were very pleased that the high standards of the hotel have been maintained.Everything is perfect, the staff canot be more polite and attentive. The gardens are beautifully kept and the lakes with the black swans and cygnets and koi carp are a delight.
The buffet breakfast is very extensive and to sit outside in the morning sunshine is a big bonus in the winter months. We lunched in the restaurant by the pool numerous times and the selection includes snacks, tapas and full lunches. The Oriental Restaurant is our particular favourite in the hotel and enjoyed our visit again this year.
All of the staff make this hotel a perfect place to relax. We hope to return in the future.

Room Tip: deluxe rooms facing the gardens and mount teide are highly recommended

This 5 star luxury hotel is situated in beautiful gardens and has the benefit of a fantastic spa too. We stayed here for a week from 2 - 9 March 2013. The hotel is well maintained and the staff are attentive and friendly, The breakfast was excellent and there was a good choice on offer including freshly prepared fruit juices, a wide variety of bread, cakes and pastries and a huge range of different teas. We ate in the Italian restaurant twice and the food was very good. We had lunch in the bar area by the pool on a number of occasions. There was a good selection of sandwiches, salads, light meals and tapas and a full a la carte menu too. We also enjoyed some excellent local wine. We used the wonderful spa facilities and enjoyed swimming, used the steam room and sauna and had a massage. Again, the staff were friendly and attentive and the experience was wonderfully relaxing. Nothing was too much trouble and we could not fault our stay here. The only thing missing is tea and coffee making facilities in the room. This is the first hotel we have stayed in where this was not provided. However, the beds were extremely comfortable and there was even a choice of different pillows. Overall, this is definitely one of the best hotels we have experienced.

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the gardens and with views of Mount Tiede. The balcony was a good size a...

I needed a full stop having got overloaded. I travelled alone and I stayed 7 nights in this gentle peaceful and suprising hotel. I spent the week in the top quality spa, in the white dressing gown having a, very reasonably priced, massage every day and then reading and resting in the sun by the spa pool or in the wonderfully maintained botanical gardens with the black swans feeling safe to nest in the peaceful atmosphere. The indoor spa facilities are second to none, including a swimming pool at 38 degrees and ice, steam and sauna and laconium rooms to wander in and out of round the pool - delicious. I did not leave the campus to explore further. I got what I needed and returned refreshed, sun tanned and ready to get back in the race. I also tested the hospitality as I arrived with some kind of virus that needed an doctor. The reception staff were so kind and attentive, getting medication for me from a local chemist and phoning up to my room to check on how I was doing. It only lasted a day but was comforting to not feel too alone! The international buffet breakfast is the best I have seen and the Thai and Spanish retaurants serve tasty and fresh food. I was not so keen on the Italian restaurant but mentioned this in my feedback sheet and got an immediate response in a letter that they would look to improving it.
I would highly recommend this hotel.

Hotel is large with beautiful well-kept gardens where you can see unusual flowers, birds, turtles and two black swans with four cygnets - a nice stroll after breakfast. Rooms were exactly as the photo shown with a private balcony and a slightly tired but reasonably big bathroom (wouldn't have minded a mat in the bath as it could be a bit slippery). We had a partial sea view on one side and Mount Tiede on the other. Plenty of wardrobe and drawer space and all usual facilities including a safe although we would have appreciated own tea/coffee equipment. The staff were all very professional, helpful and pleasant, we found the service always very good..
Breakfast choice was enormous with food to suit every taste on offer. Only quibble is that the rolls were rock hard so wouldn't recommend them.
Outside swimming pool was over thirty metres long and well tended. Unfortunately it was closed for two days due to bad weather but we did enjoy using it. There is an alternative slightly warmer but smaller pool at the spa area. The spa has a steam room, aromatherapy room and Japanese dry room, all included in the price. Treatments are all extra.
We had B&B but people we spoke to said that the food in the hotel was very good although expensive if not on half board. There are plenty of restaurants, bars and a supermarket all within a short walk.
In the hotel tea and black coffee were €2.50 each, cappuccino 3.90, small beer 3.00. large beer 4.00, spirits were quite expensive and all subject to 7% tax.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in spite of some bad weather and would return.
