Just returned after a 4 night stay, and we weren't disappointed.
My first review, and just felt the need to leave some feedback ....

Building
We had read a few comments on the building itself being a little dated. I can kind of understand these comments, but you won't be coming to this hotel for a shining White and Stainless Steel facade. Inside, it's tastefully decorated with paintings and statues and interior pieces, sympathetically put together. Each 'area' was immaculately well looked after, you'd struggle to find anywhere a bit run down.

Bedroom
We stayed in a normal deluxe room, to be honest I'm glad we didn't upgrade. The room, as with the hotel was well kept and decorated, and the idea for us was not to stay in the room for our break. A kettle would have been nice, but the well stocked bar was always there ;)
The beds were turned down every night and an itinerary of tomorrow's events were left on the bed each night.

Restaurants
I got fed up of saying, " That was the best Cod/Salmon/Seabass I've tasted" !
Although a couple of the more cantankerous customers seemed to NEED to complain (eg One asked for a Citrus sauce that wasn't meant to accompany her fish and then wondered why she had to wait for it to be made), the food was lovely, freshly cooked, fresh produce and incredibly tasty. The Spanish restaurant was definitely the cosier, tapas would have been nice here ?
Overall, great food, and well done to all the staff for putting up with people who should know better.

Gardens
Said many times before by reviewers, but they do "make" the hotel. The banana trees were a talking point, standing on the bridge watching the terrapins and Koi was also a moment to remember. Again, like the hotel, immaculately kept.

Pool
Although slightly chilly, the sun wasn't too kind to us, so probably not had a chance to heat up. The pool attendants immediately came and put towels on your beds, no one dive bombing, no one screaming, no one saving beds with their towels, just as it should be ... Peace in the sun.
Drinks waiters walking round every 5 mins, so never went short of a few cocktails.

Spa
Oh the massages !
The best money I spent during our visit. Amazing amazing hands, trying to loosen up my back is no easy task, so thank you !
The spa itself is beautiful, including the gardens and swimming pool.

Other bits ...
Half Board definitely worth it.
Would have liked the outside bar area to have a wider choice of snacks.
Sometimes the service for me, personally, was too much. I can pour my own water with my meal, but every time my glass was less than half full it was topped up.
ALL staff were excellent, I would suggest it's an honour to work there.
Activity sheets an excellent idea .. Wine tasting, card games, cocktail making .. Great idea !
News sheets at breakfast a great idea too.
Breakfast is amazing, sure I've put on weight !

And, I think that's about it !
Oh, just a tip on the price ... We booked through CleverHotels, a German company.
I think we paid nearly 900e, which was about 150e cheaper, at least, than UK companies.
I think the price of the euro has strengthened by 20% in the last year or so, but the UK prices have remained the same.

Atention of staff at the reception was professional and at the same time very personal and wellcoming. After one day we felt at home.
Our room was very cosy, impeccable and comfy, both bed and bathroom. The balcony, with view of Mt. Teide, and the amazing tropical garden and pool area was a place to be. The decoration of the Hotel is just beautiful, main theme being Asian art (Thailand) and parrots ( Loro Park in town and Siam Park in southern Tenerife being of the same group. You can buy tickets of these parks in the Hotel, both are very special)).
Breakfast is outstanding, we ate in the garden area, in the morning sun near the pool. This might be a bit of a hassle if you are handicapped or very hungry, since the buffet is inside and there are no trays. You may have to walk in-and-out several times before you are all set. But then... you might ask a waiter, and if you know what you want, they´ll bring you just what you need with great kindness.
Every day there are different activities in the Hotel, and the Spa area is an outstanding place to be.
We ate at the Italian and at the Thai Restaurant, both were of excellent quality. There was also a good choice of Canarian wines.
I would definitely recommend this Hotel if you want to stay in Tenerife North.

After reading all the reviews we arrived with high expectations – but even those were exceeded. We felt welcome, appreciated and really looked after, something that makes it even more worth the while than just all the standard luxury of a 5 star hotel. People like Antonio and Helena made all the difference: all our requests for my father's 70th birthday were fulfilled expertly, no arrangement proved to be too much (we asked to rent a car for 6 passengers; 40 minutes later we had the car parked in front of the hotel) and when we were not asking we were being asked if anything else could be done for us (but not in a pushy way). The spa is nice (albeit quite small), the gardens gorgeous and the breakfast definitely one to get up for (especially the lovely omelettes, crepes and freshly squeezed juices). We will definitely return should we ever come back to Tenerife.

This is a 5 star hotel so most of what could be said would only be expected of a luxury hotel and are well covered in other reviews. Suggestions where the hotel could improve - 1) The pool was being cleaned and maintained well after the 9am opening time on most days 2) The first visit to the spa was on a rainy day and there were no free beds to use as guests had left their belongings on the beds even though they were unused for long periods 3) A 4 star hotel close by has champagne breakfasts on Sundays whereas this 5 star had no champagne breakfasts 4) The walkway to the spa is not covered and as it rained most days a covered walkway would seem to be needed 5) On our final day there were hardly any staff on hand at breakfast leading to a poor service - even the breakfast registration desk was absent. Would I book this hotel again? - definitely. Could it be improved ? - I think so.
