This review is of suite 17 in the Lago Verde complex reflecting a holiday in September 2012. The apartment was rented from a direct Irish holiday homes website. In summary the description on the web site "picture window provides breath taking views" was reasonable however while also providing comfortable beds and adequate amenities on a quiet complex the apartment is old slightly grubby and needs maintenance.
Suite 17 is located at longitude -13.675409 Latitude 28.924028.
This location would be singularly unsuitable for those with any difficulty with steps or slopes. Renters should know that the electrical circuit breakers are located behind a picture in the hallway of the apartment lest on arrival they find as I did that the electricity is not working in some of the apartment. The balcony terrace, the best feature of the apartment with splendid views is accessible from the living room and one of the bedrooms.
Whereas beds are comfortable everything else in the apartment is past it's best. The suite in the living room is worn, the walls need fresh paint, doors particularly those to the terrace are warped and need staining or painting. The very welcome shade giving' partial terrace roof, is rotting. Sun-beds on the terrace are stained and cracked. The kitchen cabinets constructed of mdf are not clean and are worn. Kitchen equipment is adequate kettle, toaster, coffee maker, oven and 4 ring halogen hob. The socket for the fridge was hazardously adrift from the wall. The kitchen stools are too high for the counter. There is a TV with some english and some german channels. There is a small portable stereo. The apartment is not airconditioned but fans may be rented from the limited hours reception ( 8:00 to 16:00 weekdays shorter opening other days). Safe deposit boxes can be rented but these are in reception limiting when you can access your valuables. There is free wifi designed to be available at reception however this is usable in the apartment particularly in the bedroom closest to the front door. There is a pool side bar open every day save Wednesday where a separate free wifi network is also available. The swimming pool was adequate, at no time did I have difficulty getting a sun-bed. Hot water in the apartment was provided electrically, so unlike some places with solar provision, it was at all times adequate for two of us.
The complex was at all times relatively quiet though given the proximity of the blocks to each other conversations conducted at reasonable volume on balconies were plainly audible in the back of apartments below. Small "supermarkets" are located very close by one on Calle Geiser close to its junction with Calle Testeyna and another on Calle Toscon. A pleasant if precipitous stroll from the apartment brings one to the "Old Town" with it's good selection of restaurants.
Hard to imagine getting a better view from other accommodation, very easy to imagine finding a better maintained apartment, would I stay there again? I enjoyed the view and the terrace so much, I would.
