While public areas are very nice and beach location, too, the rooms are not good. This particular room (136) faces the street and is the size you would expect in New York City - barely room to move around the bed. The bathroom, though, was nicely sized. Anyway, the biggest problem is the air conditioning is terrible. I complained and a technician was sent up. When I went back to the desk after dinner I was told the a/c was working normally and that is the lowest temperature the rooms get to at this time of year. I checked one of my colleague's rooms and it was the same. If you expect air conditioning to get your room below 75 degrees F., this is not the place for you. Also, the bedding was comparable to a two star hotel, not a four star. Finally, the wireless internet did not work in my room - best reception I could get was "low," which is essentially useless.

My husband had a business trip in Gran Canaria and I joined him. For me it was leisure and pleasure, so I wanted the "perfect" hotel for this!
Reina Isabel is directly on Las Canteras (best beach in Las Palmas), the only one with sunloungers on the beach. The swimming pool is on the rooftop with amazing view and excellent service (thanks Hose'!!!). I spent every afternoon there ordering snacks and drinks at low prices (for a hotel).
The room HAS TO BE SEAVIEW!!! Worth the extra money!
There is a free internet corner at the ground floor and also free in-room wi-fi internet but this wasn't working at all when we were there. Caused a problem with my husband's business.
Las Canteras is full of restaurants and cafe's so we just went out and had our pick! Very convenient for my husband who had to come back late at night and there was no time to go far away for dinner... We also visited "LaParilla" at Reina Isabel, the top floor gourmet restaurant. It offers good food and view at moderate prices (10% discount for hotel guests and I noticed certain bottles of wine at cheaper prices than in other restaurants around)
Breakfast was generally good, but we needed to choose carefully (some fresh items, some not so fresh...).
I wanted to go around and all the sightseeing is a bit away from Reina Isabel, but I had no problem: lots of taxis waiting outside the hotel (and you always find a taxi back). Taxis are not expensive. I took a taxi to Vegueta (old town), Triana (shopping), "Pueblo Canario". I walked from the hotel to the Castillio de la Luz (10', harbour side).
Shopping in Las Palmas is good! I got discount prices especially in cosmetics (better than in duty free, look for Sabina shops)
Reina Isabel has the perfect location for a short vacation at Las Palmas. After sightseeing and shopping offers a nice beach and swimming pool to relax and then many choices for dinner. I wouldn't choose another hotel!

*Only complaint that they didn't offer bottled water at the room and they were a bit strange with pre-payment for certain things.

We spent two nights at the Reina Isabel hotel, which is located right on Canteras beach, with easy walking access to all areas.

Normally travelling to the south of the island for 1 or 2 weeks, we decided to visit Las Palmas for a few days beforehand and decided to stay at the Reina Isabel.

The hotel had all the facilities we wanted, with everything to a very high standard, including a pool on the eights floor, including a gym and health studio, although when we went it was not too busy, and I can imagine there not being enough sun beds when it was busy.

The restaurant was of a high standard, especially breakfast, which was one of the best I have even had – even vodka and sparking wine was inclusive.

It is perfectly suitable for all ages, from small children to older guests, the staff could not be more helpful.

If you want a central hotel in a central area for a short break, this would be an excellent choice.

We've just returned from a brief trip to Las Palmas. Having visited a few times before we thought we'd treat ourselves by staying in one of the most highly rated hotels on Tripadvisor.

The location is great, the foyer is suitably impressive and the gym/pool on the roof are a nice touch. 2 out of the 3 reception staff we met were friendly and smiled.

Unfortunately that's where the positives end. The breakfast wasn't great quality. The hot food was luke warm, the fruit salad etc was from a tin. The yoghurts etc were the cheapest brands you can pick up in the local Spar. There were cheap paper napkins on the tables. Nothing terrible but more what you'd expect from a 2/3 star hotel than a 4 star.

Although you can tell it had once been quite nice, the room was a bit dirty in the corners and the bathroom had some strands of hair around the edges. We didn't pay the extra for a seaview and so instead got a view of a building site around the back but at least up on the 6th floor it was fairly quiet !

All in all there's nothing here that will ruin your trip but there are so many hotels in the pretty much the same area if I was to return I'd definitely try something different and probably pay a bit less.

This is a lovely hotel in one of the best locations in Las Palmas, possibly the best. The hotel is right on the beach. The view from our balcony was great over looking the bay. Loved it would definitly go again and the roof top pool views were spectacular.
