We booked this hotel pretty much at last minute (one week before going) and the reviews we saw on Trip Advisor gave us plenty of confidence - and we weren't disappointed.

Following a really long flight delay, we arrived at 2am - reception staff were very friendly even at that hour.

The rooms are a little dated now (sort of late 80's style decor), but they're cool, clean, comfortable and suprisingly quiet.

We stayed half board and the buffet food was good quality with a reasonable amount of variety - we were able to have something different on each of our 7 nights.

There's plenty of evening entertainment and the 'mini mini mini disco' was a big hit with our 7 year old daughter. There's a bar by the pool that's quieter during the evenings if you don't want to join in.

The pool was very well kept throughout the holiday - always clean, even down to the poolside WC - spotless.

If we had one minor criticism, it was that the room cleaning service wasn't as good as it could have been, leaving too few towels and not completely cleaning the bathroom or giving clean glasses - but it really wasn't worth mentioning.

We hired a car during our stay and it's pretty difficult to park near the hotel as there's no car parking - just a road that runs behind the hotel and it's first come, first served for the spaces.

If you do decide to hire a car, then go for 3 days max - Gran Canaria isn't that big and you can definitely see the sights in 3 days. If you decide to be daring and go along the west coast 'Anden Verde' scenic route, be prepared for some pretty hair raising driving, some incredible scenary - oh, and do take car sickness tablets for any passengers as it's VERY twisty!

Tuarito itself (where the hotel) is a relatively new, developing part of the south coast - and you must go to Puerto Mogan (just a short, free bus trip from the hotel) - it's stunning.

It's been a great holiday and we'd definitely recommend Gran Caneria just for the weather alone - beautiful clear blue skies and an even 29C with gentle breezes.

The Princess Suite shouldn't be a dissappointment either!

just returned from suite princess, and as many others had a great time, even 14 yr old son , hotel is clean and rooms cool and largewith great view . book a mini fridge for drinks in the evening on your balconey but buy them from spar much cheaper.
rhian the thompon rep was very helpful and not at all pushy. we booked for camel safari.. good fun 40 min slow walk amougst the dunes then mint tea and off to see baby camels, quite dirty so dont wear your best outfit and did wonder if camels get untied and left to roam but they did get fed and watered. dolfin watching well worth it saw 3 types of dolfin flying fish, sting rays, but be aware that this is the atlantic and it can be rough so take sea sick tabs if needed before trip , 50% of our party came back with their head in a carrier bag!!!! jeep safari beautiful views high up in the hills vist tiny villages and stop for lunch, then back by off road tracks again you will get dirty, i would not take young children as you sit in open landrover and do seveal miles fast off road bouncing along there is a loy of dust flying and i wonder how well the drivers can see, there is also quite of bangs and knocking from the landrovers and i wonder if there is a mot in gran caneria
but in all a fun trip. the staff at the hotel are brillient and the food is varied there were lots of spanish, italian and germans on holiday but everyone mixed well, 14 yr old joined in water polo most days which was good fun he also enjoied a diving day with gerry booked in all a great familly holiday not a very busy resort but we arent into night clubsand foam parties, would go here again

“A cracking holiday”

Suite Princess

Aug 21, 2008

We stayed at the suite princess in the first two weeks of Aug and this hotel lived up to all the previouse reviews. But here are few thing i wish to add.
1. The hotel location is great right on the beach but you have to walk about 60 meters down 3 steep ramps or steps to the beach. the beach is a good size but its very busy. The romes are as advertised large and roomy the bathroom is also very large which was a bonus. the sofa beds are not the best for sleeping on my son did not like it so we switched for the 2 weeks. the hotel has 9floors and plenty of lifts.
2. Food, The buffet for breakfast and dinner was vast with plenty of choice fish feature a lot for dinner.
3. The bars. there are 3 bar areas. The Piano bar which was never open while we were there we never found out why? The saloon bar whereall the entertainment went on large and well decorated only down side no air con or not turned on this spoit the entertainment in my view. The coco loco bar or pool bar this bar is top bannana you cannot beat sitting in the coco loco bar when the sun is setting, it also has happy hours at 12pm and 5pm where drinks sre half price.
4. Pool area. there was no need to rush for sunbeds as there are plenty only place to rush for is the tots pool, one day we turned up at 1.30pm and got 3 beds by the large pool no problem. The swimming pools are great tots pool shin deep the large pool shin deep to 7ft and the round pool is 7ft deep allround. You get poolside towels free in your room but if you want to change them it cost 60 cents a towel in the hotel shop.
4. The lido or slide park is a litle expensive in my view 11Euros each to get in then you have to buy sun beds and parasol. crazy golf is great at 4euros each 18 holes of madness there are plenty of shops and one beach side bar cafe which is only open at lunch time.
5. We did not go on any excursions as my son wanted to swim every day but we did go to Porta Mogan a few times and i would recommend it market day is Friday it covers every street in the village. Porto Rico was not for me it appears dirty anty and the time share people from AMFI are on every street corner got on my nerves they pester you all the time i got aggressive at one point to stop them hasseling us.
6. The Hotel staff are first class nothing is to much troublefor them and they are like most resort staff brilliant with the kids.
7 Thompsons trip advisor Rhian she gave the best reception brief i have ever recieved and you will learn a lot about the Island from her she is not an excursion vendor like most advisors (reps) are. She is always available and willing to help and she always has a smile on her face and loves to have a quick chat.
8. Cats there are a few ferral cats but outside the hotel complex.
9. This hotel lived up to all my expectations and i would go back and i would recommend it to my family and friends.

We stayed at the Suite Princess from 2 August 2008 until 9 August 2008. We had checked out the reviews given by others on this site and so knew it was unlikely we would experience any problems. We booked our holiday with Thomson and the whole holiday package with them was great. The flight was good and the inflight service was excellent. This hotel is a Thomson Platinum and so we had a few extras on our outbound flight like fast track check in which enabled us to jump a massive check in queue! Seats together outbound and inbound, complimentary drinks on the outbound journey plus free headsets for the inflight movie. This all made a great start to our holiday experience. On arrival, this was in the early hours of the morning, we also had priority drop off which meant we were dropped at our hotel first. First impressions of the hotel did not disappoint, very well handled check in and the rooms we were allocated were fantastic. All rooms are junior suites which meant plenty of space and a fantastic balcony with beautiful views. We stayed on a half board basis and the amount of food on offer at breakfast and dinner meant this was ample, no need for lunch if you didn't want it. All meals were buffet style and the choice was brilliant, many things being freshly cooked in front of you and replenished regularly if things started to run out. All staff were great and the maitre 'd in the restaurant was very amusing! Due to the rubbish British summer we have been experiencing, we hoped for fantastic weather and we were not disappointed. The temperature was always between 30 and 33 degrees C during the day and no less than 25 degrees C at night. No need for any jumpers here! We didn't go on any of the excursions that could be booked through the travel adviser ( apparently they are not called 'reps' any more). Ours was Rhian and she was brilliant, always on hand and willing to help at all times, she was happy to lend beach equipment that had been donated by past holiday makers to save having to buy any during our stay. The only reason we didn't book the excursions was that we like to do things when we want to and not have to be restricted to any time constraints, we do enough of that at home Monday to Friday! The excursions on offer looked good but we found the local buses (as we have discovered on previous trips abroad) were great for getting about, reliable, air-conditioned and cheap. We could travel to all the desinations we wanted to on these when we wanted and this suited us. The only word of warning about this resort is it is quite remote. You cannot walk anywhere other than around the immediate area as there are no pavements on the roadsides and the roads are to narrow and dangerous to walk on with the traffic. This didn't cause us a problem but some people didn't like this restriction. Also, this is a very quite resort which again suited us but you need to travel out by bus at night for anything other than the hotel entertainment. The entertainment the hotel laid on was ok, nothing spectacular but a couple of the singing tribute acts they had were very good. We did find amusement however in some of the other evenings entertainment particulary the reptile show which although was a little odd for an evening show our girls loved and they had their pictures taken with a rather large python and an iguwana afterwards! There was plenty of daytime activities if you wanted to join in and our girls enjoyed the water aerobics when we were there for them and everyone enjoyed the water polo mid afternoon. On departure day we had booked a late check out on one of our rooms until 6pm but as we were not leaving until 11.30pm the receptionist told us we could keep our room until we left which made the last day a whole one and much more enjoyable. To summerize our holiday experience, we had absolutely nothing to complain about and were just sorry to have to leave so soon.

Well what can we say!! Just got back 4th aug 08.. This hotel was the best! DEFINATELY four star plus. The rooms were very spacious and spotless and accomodated the four of us very comfortably, We had 2 adults and 2 girls (12 + 4) ,The swimming pools were great for all ages and we got a sunbed very easily without having to be up at the crack of dawn to grab some!!! The animation team were so professional and enjoyed their job, the girls loved being with them, we didnt think our 4 yr old would want to stay but after the first time we couldnt keep her out, she enjoyed it so much. The hotel is safe for children as the reception is up on the 6th floor and a card has to be used to get in and out by the beach entrance.Happy hours were 12 - 1 and 5 - 6. Cocktails were nice and plenty of them to choose from!!!! Food was great, restaurant very clean, even the children enjoyed the food . Just one problem we ate far too much of it!!!! We were talking to families that come back to this hotel year after year and we can understand totally as we cant wait to book to come back again, the girls cant wait to go back. We would recommend this hotel to any families with children.
