“friendly,cheap and clean”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

i stayed here for a month and was very pleased at the friendliness of the staff and general atmosphere..food in the downstairs cafe was well presented and the locals always said good morning. my room opened out onto the sun terrace which was very welcome.mdern shower room with a hairdryer and plenty of hot water.the room had a hanging rail for the clothes i didn,t need as it was always a warm day.receptionist was great as she speaks three languages (spanish, english and german).allrooms have air con.and a card entry system,so no leaving your phone on charge while you pop out. i shopped at the local 'spar' in the same street to the north to get my midday meal (friendliest) and occasionaly went to the supermarket under the bus staion (the biggest).prices seem to rise as you go towards the touristy end of town.

Room Tip: rooms on the east side mean the sun in the morning whilst in the shade in the heat of the afternoon...

We stayed at this hotel for a week recently and found it to be clean and basic. The breakfast that was included was limited to their breakfast of the day, normally a toasted sandwich, with juice and a single cup of tea or coffee - everything else was available for normal payment.
Whilst the room was clean it was on the small side and had no creature comforts and the fittings were basic 'modern metal in the style of Ikea's bargain range'. We were lucky to stay at a quiet time at the floors were not carpeted and footsteps could be heard from the floor above.
On the pus side this hotel is about 200 metres from the main square so really close to the town centre and just far enough to be away from any noise, and staying at Carnaval time made this a big plus.

Room Tip: The premium suites 501 & 502 might be worth a try as they have nothing above them and have their...

We had to catch the 7.00am ferry from San Sebastian but were staying in Valle Grand Rey - a 1 hour drive at the best of times. I decided therefore to book into Hotel La Colombina the previous night via booking.com. The price was very attractive indeed and I wondered what we'd get for that price. The SatNav took us straight there and we street parked in the adjoining street after offloading the luggage. We were both delighted with this very stylish hotel which was perfect for our purpose. It's modern, sparklingly clean and well situated for a walk into town -just minutes away from the sea, park and restaurants. The staff were friendly and obliging. We left at 6.30 the next morning to catch the boat so couldn't sample breakfast but we went into the breakfast room (essentially a small cafe next door) to use WiFi as it was not available in the rooms - this was the only drawback of the hotel, though in fairness there was an ethernet connection the room but this was no good for an Ipad. The staff in the cafe were friendly as well.

I wouldn't want to spend a week there but for our purpose I couldn't recommend it highly enough and I'll certainly use it next time I go to La Gomera.

Teenagers from the 1980's would probably have this hotel in their wet dreams of interior design in the 2000's. And the dream is in black, white and grey. And they could not imagine a wireless internet. Despite the cold interior, the people in the reception were very welcoming. We had a room with a window not to the street, but to the ventilation thing, which allowed us to hear (and even see) everything from our neighbours, and we guess, vice versa. Nicer breakfast places can most probably be found around town. Beds were comfortable despite a bit noisy plastic sheet. Lights for reading and glasses for drinking would have added a nice touch.

Room Tip: Ask for a window with a view outside
