“Excellent appartments in Calan Bosch, Menorca”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2011

Just home from spending 2 weeks in the Tamariscos appartments. Receptionist was very friendly when checking in, good first impression. The appartment was a 2 bedroomed one which was spotless clean(that coming from a clean freak means it must be good). Good sized living area, bedrooms good sized as well. Location 110%! looking out on to beach and sea. The only downside was the size of the balcony, there was 5 of us and it was so little it only held 3 at a push at 1 time. There was only 4 dinning chairs but that didnot bother us as we ate out all the time cause food to buy was so expensive in the supermarkets. There was no toaster or kettle which we have always had in previous sc accomodation(expensive to rent, take ur own).
The entertainer called Nordin was very nice, children all to old for the childrens activies, but the youngest joined in with the water polo, quizes. He was very good with the children.
I would recoment this appartments 100%!
Five minute walk to marina if that, where all the restaurants are, felt very safe in the resort.

We stayed 10days at this hotel.
We rented a motorbike to see all of menorca and returned there for sleeping.
The room was OK, with a convenient kitchenette, a salon with convertible couches and a separate bedroom.
The terrace is really really amazing !(see my picture) . What a view!
The hotel has good amenities like 2 swimming pools, a bar, a restaurant, direct access to the beach.
This hotel is also suitable for families with kids.

We loved it here! Having been to Cala'n Bosch before, we were excited about returning. We had booked, or so we thought, a 2 bedroom apartment, but on arrival we were told our room was still being cleaned, as it was so big! We were given keys to a studio temporarily so we could change and use the pool while we waited, which was great. Later we discovered that we'd been given a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom huge apartment with two balconies overlooking the beach, sea and the pool. It was wonderful. Very clean, very spacious, beautiful bathrooms, and maid service 6 days out of 7. Brilliant. We used the bar which was great, we didn't actually eat in the restaurant as we went out every night to the fabulous restaurants around the marina. The smaller swimming pool by the bar is absolutely wonderful, with stunning sea views all around. The negative points are very minor like broken sunbeds and the plus points far outweigh them. If you couldn't get a sunbed by the smaller pool, you could just put your towel down on the extensive grassed area around the pool. Perfect. Would highly recommend.

Went for 2 weeks in August with family (2 daughters aged 11 & 6). Rooms are basic but clean and cannot fault them. We went self catering and could have done with a toaster (€11/week rental).
There are two pools and we used the larger one for the first week before discovering the slightly smaller one. The larger one was a bit livelier, although not too lively, however the smaller one was much quieter as there were mainly younger families (infants and pre-teens). We also preferred this pool as the view was superb – view of the sea and entrance to the marina (no beach view).
There are enough restaurants around the marina to eat at a different one for 14 nights. I have a slight disagreement with some of the other reviews in that we found El Pato to be just OK: not fantastic and not rubbish but very average. I couldn’t believe that people (mainly Brits) were queuing up to get into this place, which the tables were too close together for my liking making it very cramped. Please try it but don’t go nearly every night as one family did (why?!). Our favourite restaurant was On Egin which is on the other side of the marina. Best steak outside of the USA, in my opinion. Certainly try Tropicana and Piccola and definitely try Bahia, which has excellent food and always has Spanish in there. Café Balear is average and a little pretentious, giving a false impression of a quality restaurant. Don’t bother with Toro Negro steak house unless you want your meal in front of you literally 2 minutes after ordering and even then it was lukewarm.
We didn’t bother with the three British pubs and I’m sure I don’t have to explain why. However, if you like the odd fry-up now and again use the Britannia for an excellent breakfast. But for nothing else.
This was our first time in Menorca and would say it is a more civilised and dare I say sophisticated island than Majorca. We would definitely return to Menorca.

On reading previous reviews myself and husband were a bit wary of what we had booked. Oh how misleading some of the reviews were. I agree accommodation is pot luck with what you are given but on arrival with our three sons aged 8, 10 and 15 we couldn't have been more pleased. We expected a basic family apartment but actually got a three (double) bedroom, 2 bathroom (newly refurbished) ,air conditioned apartment with two balconies overlooking the beach and the med sea. Swimming pools clean and refreshing after a hard days sunbathing. Loungers plentiful but as with other hotels you need to get down to pool side early. Apartment cleaned nearly every day with clean towels and bed linen changed every 3 to 4 days. Restaurant facilities on site are pretty basic with breakfast, snacks and pizzas only but if you just want a relaxed family holiday what more do you need. During the evening we strolled into the marina and tried out many of the restaurants our favourites being Le Pato and the Tropicana but for a very special meal you need to go to the Lighthouse which is a ten minute stroll from the Tamariscos but so worth it. The menu is limited but what you do get is very well cooked and the setting unbelievable (sun setting on one side of the lighthouse with Majorca as the backdrop and on the other side the moon rising it is a sight that you wouldn't believe possible). The Lighthouse may seem expensive depending on your budget but for one night must be experienced approx 110 euro for 1 round of drinks, main meal and desert for family of 5. Meals at other restaurants cost anything from 45 to 90 euro. Staff at Tamariscos a pretty mixed bunch some friendly some not so much.

All in all a quiet. friendly, family resort and hotel with a mixture of nationalities and I can't wait to return.

I have just returned from a weeks stay at the tamariscos my husband ,myself and 3 children aged 6,7 and 14 . we were given a room in A block on the first floor , it was a 2 bedroom apartment with bunk beds for my younger children which were far two high and a sofa bed for my older boy , we had two small balconies , i was a little dissappointed with the size of the room as i had heard reports of very spacious rooms large balconies etc however we felt we could live with it ! it was clean , a little basic but we had booked half board so knew we wouldnt be staying in our rooms for too long !!
throughout the complex there is indeed some stunning rooms with balconies very large unfortyunatley i think it is the luck of the draw as to which one you get
we booked half board but on arriving were told the hotel doesnt do half board ?
we were informed we had to go to the grupotel masserrella suites about 200 metre walk for our evening meals , however we werent dissapointed its a very nice hotel and the food was very good .
The tamariscos has lots of good points , the breakfast is good and we ate on a lovely terrace overlooking the sea , the food and drink from the bar is of a good quality and not too expensive. The pools are lovely and kept very clean , never really had a problem getting a sunbed although the ones around the grassed area pool were very uncomfortable and some fell apart when you laid on them !
There is a good mix of nationalities staying at the hotel my boys made lots of friends not only from england but spain and germany too and they all got on really well had lots of fun together !
The beach is very close to the hotel , however very busy , the harbour is only a 5 mins walk away and is very pleasant indeed on a evening it comes to life , some great places to eat and drink.
a few bad points , the entertainment is hit and miss its advertised daily but didnt see much going off , there is a mix of attitudes from the staff some very pleasant to the very miserable which i felt was a real shame as the hotel generally has a nice relaxing feel .
overall i have to say we really enjoyed our week , and would recommend it to others , we booked our hotel through travel republic not one of the tour operators , you can save a few hundred pounds by doing it yourself !

We have just returned from a fabulous fortnight at the Tamariscos in Cala n'Bosch. We have had 3 previous self catering holidays in Menorca and this was the best accomodation we have had in Menorca. We had a 2 bed apt with a fabulous ocean view and huge balcony and terrace. The room was clean, air conditioned and spacious.
There are 2 pools, low key entertainment for the children if they want to join in. The staff are a bit surly but that didn't affect us - our maid was wonderful and we had clean towels almost every day and bed changes several times a week.. Cala n'Bosch is a nice resort with a pleasant beach and a marina. There are some good restaurants - our favourite was El Pato and La Marina (but check the bill carefully!!).We did the glass bottomed boat trip from the marina and that was great fun, with a stop at a gorgeous beach only accessible by foot or boat and a swim into a cave.
