“The best tapas in Cuitadella”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

A Menorcan couple took us to this small tapas place and explained that the owner is Galician (famous for their cuisine) and the name, Chicken Place, refers to poultry being safe here as the only thing they don´t serve is chicken! As promised, every single tapa was excellent. I recommend, well, the whole tapas menu: the octapus is true Galician style, the fried green peppers yummy and occasionally spicy, all sea food is fresh and, most of all, the bay scallops (zamburiñas) were simply delicious! We repeated nearly every plate, all 3 times we went back there. Of course, being so good the place is dead busy, popular with locals and tourists alike. Also, there are only 4-5 tables outside and they don´t take reservations, so don´t expect to sit out after 8.30 unless you are exceptionally lucky: I saw people queuing for hours , then give up and leave. If you really wanna taste their specialties either go inside (though it can be terribly crowded) or make sure you get there before 8.

“Wow!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

Having read the reports on Tripadvisor, we were encouraged to visit this place, even by the poor reports, which we considered to be insignificant. We nearly gave up on the bar, having turned up on 28th June 2013, 29th June 2013, 2nd July 2013 and 3rd July 2013, only to find the place full. On each occasion, the staff were too busy to say anything other than that loads of people were in the queue ahead of us. It seemed very bohemian and very cliquey.

We finally got a table on 4th July 2013, and we were so glad that we did. We had fabulous Galician octopus (really spicy); grilled baby squids; tortilla espanola; pimientos de padron and habas catalana, (the last being baby broad beans with sausage). These were the best tapas we have ever had. My wife has lived in Spain, in Pamplona, so has a little knowledge.

We returned for lunch the following day and were accepted like old friends. We had similar food, including almejas (clams). The prices were very reasonable. This place is great. Do not be put off if the staff are indifferent, and the restaurant is full. The food is first class, and worth a wait. The staff are VERY busy. Do NOT be offended by their indifference. We could eat here every week, if we could. This place should be number 1 on Tripadvisor.

“Great Tapas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

This place was recommended to me by a local and it did not disappoint. It is located on one of the side streets near the Arches. My favorite was grilled octopus with garlic and sea salt.

“Disappointing”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

We visited this place based on tripadvisor. Unfortunately, it turned out horribly. We chose four types of tapas (spanish omelet, fried peppers, grilled squid and garlic chicken). Let me count the waste: cold and dry omelet (no veggies, no meat); dry microwaved chicken; chewy smuttered in garlic squid. The peppers were tastless and sunk in oil but ok in comparison to the other dishes.

The service was ok and friendly. We paid 25 euro's including two glasses of wine

“Where the locals go”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

A lovely little place in the town centre. It's a rather basic looking cafe and if it hadn't been for a recommendation we'd been given we might have walked past, thankfully we didn't. The atmosphere is buzzing, both the staff ad customers are very friendly and welcoming (despite our poor attempt at Spanish), the food is just delicious and very very reasonably priced - make sure you find out about the specials and if scallops are on the menu then try them, you will not be disappointed. We rarely return to the same place twice on holiday (there are usually so many places to try, but we broke our rule for Hogar Del Pollo.

TIP: don't wait until you are hungry to go since there may be a little wait, but you can have a drink and snacks at the bar in the meantime.
