Amparo y Pepe, Muchas gracias!
Thankfully, we found this traditional Menorquin restaurant after only 4 days of our holiday... and ate there every evening after, introducing more people every few days.
Husband and wife team, Pepe & Amparo, have been running their business for 23 years... after all that time, and riding 2 financial recessions, they are obviously getting it right. There is a terrace, and an indoor seated area - with an open fire for chilly evenings.
We tried so many things on the extensive menu, and were never, ever disappointed.
Faves? Starters: fish/seafood soup; fresh tomato soup, spicy garlic prawns, mixed salad (far more exciting than it sounds!), avocado cream with prawns.
Mains: Chicken al la Parada (spicy chicken over braised potatoes); Menorquin seafood & fish stew; rabbit with garlic cream sauce & fried mushrooms; paella; hake with mussels & grilled prawns; steak in green pepper sauce; mixed fresh fish, langoustine & seafood casserole.
Afterwards: Ice cream, strong coffee & generous glasses of Baileys or Cointreau
Everyone we introduced went back several times during their holiday, including a couple with a two-year-old son, who developed a serious love of paella!
If you go to Cala'n Forcat, please try this restaurant... early in your holiday. We ate like royalty, enjoyed good beer and fab house wine, and paid between 65-70e each night.Take the road opposite 'Bar 61' (Irish Pub on the main drag), and follow it for a few hundred metres - La Parada is opposite the Los Delfines Hotel. I PROMISE you will not be disappointed!
