“A good place for kids and the adults can have fun too !!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013

We've just returned from 1 week AI with our 4 & half year old, who has cried her self to sleep, because she didn't want to leave.

Now don't get me wrong this place isn't aesthetically the nicest hotel we've stayed, the rooms do need updating, but they are clean and functional, and at the end of the day, its a place to lay your head and have a wash.

The facilities for kids are great, kids clubs, 3 pools including a mini aqua park (which I enjoyed just as much as my daughter) play park, daily activities (football, tennis) and also stuff for the adults (archery, riffle shooting, water polo, quizzes).

The night time entertainment, to be honest wasn't mine or the wife's cup of tea, but my daughter loved it, the entertainment team to their credit work their socks off and tried to get everyone involved.

The food was v good, plenty of choice, and of good quality..... No complaints from me other than expanding waist-line.

Location is ideal, close to a couple of beaches, but access isn't the greatest but they are definitely worth the effort of getting down to.

The resort of Cala N Blanes/Forcat has a choice of restaurants and bars, and free nightly entertainment in the Cala N Blanes squares, an alternative to the hotel entertainment.

All in all a good place for a fun family holiday, with a bit of relaxation thrown in for good measure.

We stayed here for 1 week S/C with our 2 & half yr old, found the apartments to be very clean but basic which we expected. But would need updating a bit 1970s. That said the facilities were good, lots of outdoor toilets & a well stocked shop& not bad priced either. We had lunch there twice in La Tosca bar but it was terrible – would not recommend it.
On arrival we were to be in an apartment at the main pool which was very noisy, but luckily got moved to 346 on the 1st floor by the tennis courts and the 3rd pool which was much better suited to smaller children & not in the main pathway through the complex & with sea views. We had great weather and on the hot nights were lucky enough to be able to open all the windows and patio doors for air this would not be possible on the ground floor .The only down side was the noise at night time from the stage area were the entertainment went on some nights till 11.30 - 12 ish if your out it won't matter but trying to get a small child to sleep while a rendition of Tom Jones belts out is not easy!! Oh plus forgot about the big tree with the thousands of birds nesting in it which were guaranteed to wake you up every morning around 5am for feeding time!
Overall the whole resort is brilliant for young families, every bar or restaurant we went to had a play area, bouncy castles & trampolines etc to keep the little ones occupied. A really good family base, there is a beach close by more a cove but its shingle mainly & a bit of sand with jelly fish!
I do agree with others on the sun bed issue & we are guilty of putting out our towels the night before but this was because if you didn't you had no where to sit the next day which we had happened to us 2 days in a row & we did stay by the baby pool all day. More loungers would be a good idea.

Room Tip: Ask for a room by the tennis court anywhere from 350 onwards is nice & quite plus have great v...

Dear guest,

We are grateful that you took the time and trouble to write about your holiday. We take your comments very seriously and they do help to improve our standards and services.

I am sorry that on certain levels your holiday did not live up to your expectations, but in he Apartments is not allowed to reserve Sunbeds, we give note to all our guests explaining this (and other things about the complex ), and there are also sings around the pools to remind guests not to reserve Sunbeds.
We know that holidays are special and do our best to make them completely enjoyable.

Best Regards,

The BiniMar is a good family Holiday Base, however the fact that people set their alarms for 2am to reserve their sunbeds is another story. The setting is good ,very clean and well set out 3 pools all crowded (penguin island springs to mind.) The food is good although breakfast is a nightmare after 9am. There is a kids club and the reps are lovely ,hardworking and very people friendly 10out of 10 for them they have their work cut out pleasing everyone. the appartments are clean and I think spacious, however the management need to address the sunbed issue it's ridiculous as some who reserved sunbeds didn't even use them until late afternoon. There is a lack of beaches but the bus service is good and not expensive The weather was superb and their is a good waterpark about a 10 minute walk away from the appartments.

Room Tip: request a sea view if you can at least you won't be woken up by scraping sunbeds at 2am!

Just got back from a 7 night holiday at the Binimar with my husband and two boys aged 5 and 2. What a fantastic resort! I spent a lot of time researching all hotels in Menorca and settled on here based on the reviews and location. Was concerned about queues based on some reviews however the only queue we experienced was on arrival which wasn't too long (10-15mins as a couple of buses arrived at the same time). Our room was on the edge of the resort near the Adventure Playground so was lovely and quiet at nightime and meant the kids could go for an afternoon nap without being disturbed. The rooms are dated and basic but we expected this and it was fine for our needs as didn't spend that much time in the room. We did get a couple of fans for 15euro per week which were helpful.

The resort itself is fantastic with 3 pools - the larger one with entertainment from killer pool to quizzes, the childrens pool with slides etc and a quieter pool. Nothing bad can be said about the pools. My eldest son loved the slides and every so often a bucket would fall tipping loads of water on to his head which he loved. I have heard people say a siren goes off every couple of minutes but it is just a bell which isn't that loud at all. My youngest son preferred to go in the childrens area of the larger pools. It was fine though as we just found a spot by the quiet pool to sunlounge and then went to the splash pool when he fancied it.

The bar is great with free San Miguel, Wine, Slush Drinks, Gin, Vodka, Sangria etc. Service is fast and plenty of seating room in sun and shade. The food in the restaurant is ok as you would expect. Plenty of choice for breakfast, lunch and tea. We were staying all inclusive so tended to eat in there 3 times a day and always plenty to eat. You cant go in to the restaurant in swimwear so we quite often ate at La Tasca, the restaurant next to the bar where they do pizza, Bolognese, hotdogs, nuggets etc and salad as well as all deserts so really good alternative.

The resort is spotlessly clean and the staff are amazing particularly the entertainment team who go out of their way to put on an amazing show and kids disco every night. All the staff in general are really friendly and helpful. We didn't use the kids clubs but their base was outside our room next to the playground and all the kids seemed to be having a brilliant time. There is plenty for kids (and adults) to do.

The location of the resort is fantastic. We stopped in a villa in spain which was well out of the way and we were desperate to find somewhere centrally located and this place is fantastic. On the same road as the hotel are 3 supermarkets and a brilliant family pub with bouncy castle, trampoline, scooters, playhouses etc. A 5 minute walk (if that) further down and you come to a mass of restaurants and bars. You cannot get a better area for kids as all bars have massive bouncy castles, trampolines, zipwires etc so they are happily entertained for hours. An amazing steakhouse we went to called Coure had an adventure playground in the back. My husband and I shared a Chateubriand which we cooked on a hot stone slate. OMG this was the tastiest steak we have ever had!

We did travel to Cuitadella for the day which is only a 10 minute bus ride away which was a lovely place. We only stayed there for a few hours though as kids wanted to get back to the pool! The beach a few minutes walk away from the resort is quite small and stoney sand. There is another beach apparently about 20 minutes walk away but we didn't go to this as my 2 year old isn't keen on sand yet and the boys just wanted to be by the pool.

All in all this is a fantastic family resort with endless things for the kids to do with amazing and friendly staff. The resort is very clean and the food is varied with plenty of choice. The location is great with loads of bars/restaurants near by and I would definitely recommend anyone looking for a fantastic family resort to go to the Binimar.

Room Tip: Request a room near Playground as don't hear any noise from the night time activities.

We travelled to Binimar apartments from 8th June - 15th June All Inclusive and had another fantastic time there! we came back after having such a great time last year! You can find my 1st review of the Binimar in the May 2012 section on here!

Transfer from airport to hotel: It takes about 45 minutes from Mahon airport to Cala'n Forcat where the Binimar apartments are. Transfer was very effiicent with good knowledge from the Thomas Cook reps.

Resort: Cala'n Forcat is an excellent resort for families and couples with plenty of bars and restaurants for all tastes. All of these have excellent play areas for children. There is also lots of supermarkets are fair prices if you go self catering. You can walk all around the resort and find lots of gorgeous coves to explore. We would also suggest taking a visit to Ciutadella which is about 20 minutes on the bus at 1.60 each way, excellent for shopping, visiting the port, markets and lovely restaurants. We also had very hot weather for our week here! clear blue skies everyday.

The rooms: Very spacious and clean. Maid cleans rooms 3 times a week. Although no aircon, we didnt find this a problem. The hotel grounds were also kept very clean and tidy.

The food: Excellent choice once again, always hot. Always excellent breakfast with sausages, beans, bacon, eggs, cereal, breads and cakes. Lunch: always have a salad bar and a selection of chips, pasta, chicken, veg and soups. Tea: Potatos, pizza, steaks and veg always varied and something for everyone.

Swimming pools: A choice of 3 pools. A small quiet pool at the back of hotel. A fantastic play pool for children in the middle and the main bridge pool were all activities were mainly based. A daily quiz also took place around this pool. Aswell as water polo, killer pool, bowling and table tennis taking place around this pool area.

Entertainment team: Once again a big thank you too the fantastic entertainment team! Katie, Frankie, Kaylee, Harriett, Ryan and Macarena work so hard all day! getting people involved with the day time activities such as Archery, french bowls, quizzes, football, basketball and rounders! Evening entertainment was a childrens disco at 8.15 then the adult entertainment starts about 9.15 which was always really fun making sure all the adults get invloved and have a great time which everyone did! Hope all the enterainment team enjoy the rest of the season! :)

Overall, we would recommend the Binimar to everyone whether you are a couple or with family there is something for everyone to enjoy :)

Claire and Sean :)

the resort was clean, regulary cleaned, always helpful staff esp the thomas cook reps.
food was of good quality. apartment was little out dated and few issues with ants and bit of damp in walls but good standard for either self catering and inclusive. pools were bit cold but thats my southern fairy coming through my daughter loved it.

the entertainers were of different class, very fun, professional and excellent with the children. kids club was good altho my little one didnt make use but always things on including a chocolate party!!! they all came out covered, beware!!!! the adults entertainment was good day and all shows at night were very well performed and run to like clockwork even gave my little daughter a serinade of happy birthday, nothing was a problem to them even them eating their dinner they had time to say say to the children. top drawer credit to themselves and the hotel.

the hotel is bit out the way of tourist bits which was good but there is a street with pubs shops and restaurants just round corner go right at entrance and its minutes walk. there is a little supermarket on site. weather was lovely an hours rain on the wednesday in the morning and that was it. transfers very professional and quick.

all in all very good, well presented and definatly would go back and would recommend this

Room Tip: we were lucky to be right opposite the splash pool and the show bar, couldnt of picked better if had...

We have just returned after a weeks self catering at the Binimar apartments. I travelled with my husband and children aged 4 and 6. We had a late booking to Cala n Forcat last year and opted to stay at Los Delfines after reading various reviews however this year the deal for Binimar was great and we knew the resort itself was perfect for kids and the hotel was just a base.

We arrived and checked in smoothly, I had emailed the hotel in advance as my daughter has walking difficulties and had asked for an easily accessible room which we were given. On entering the room I was pleasantly surprised, if people think these rooms are dated I reccomend having a look at Los Delfines as they are a lot more tired and worn. Yes the room smelt a little musty initially and yes a tv would be great and air conditioning a bonus but we knew these weren't included when we booked. As a base the room was perfect. Beds were comfortable, shower was hot and the kettle worked - not really sure what else you need?
The facilities at the hotel were brilliant, the pools were clean and fabulous for the kids. The park/play area was great and the staff were polite.
We were self catering and never ate at the hotel so couldn't comment on the food and drink or indeed entertainment as the kids were more than happy with the pools all day and we ate out night. Anyone who has young children are really missing a trick if you don't take advantage of the bars in the surrounding areas. All welcome children and have play areas and bouncy castles for them to play on whilst you relax in an evening. The food and drink is competitively priced and the service and food is always spot on. You can have the traditional english egg and chips or there are plenty of local dishes for all price ranges at all the restaurants.
We already knew the beach wasn't the best but it's a change of scenery and the children were happy to paddle and try to catch fish in it.
Overall Cala n Forcat is a great family orientated resort, Binimar is a lovely hotel, I think people need to remember it is a 2 star, if you expect fine dining and high spec rooms they come at a premium, this hotel caters superbly for it's target market. I wouldn't hesitate to return again and the kids adored it.
