“First family Holiday abroad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013

Have to agree with some other reviews on here. It did seem a bit disorganised and not very user friendly. The accommodation booked was not the one my party eventually ended up in and was not particularly suitable for our requirements. Not all the Spanish staff were friendly but the Thomas Cook staff were brilliant. The entertainment and especially the kids club were fantastic. We all enjoyed the week, but the weather was shocking (May) so leave it until later in the season! We won't be going back to that resort but may try another more populated one on the island.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the sea are better.

The first family holiday we have been on , 6 adults and 3 children, after reading the reviews on here before we left i thought woo this place looks and sounds brilliant!! ... Well much to my disappointment i was shocked at the location , the food , the pools , menorca as a whole. I personaly didnt like anything about the island, very very boring .. Within the hotel the Thomas cook reps , the kids club and entertainers all do a brilliant job. If the kids club wasnt there my 4 year old would have been a nightmare to keep entertained. Kids club is brilliant and the staff do a 5 star job. Entertainment and night is a wee bit cheesey but why not your on holiday, as my brother in law says .. There was a beach , well a hole in some rocks and sand , at the back of the hotel, you will never get a pram down all the stairs, rocks and rubble that you have to endure before hitting the sand , beware jellyfish everywhere !!.
Food is stinking . No taste to it. We where all inclusive and the choice of food was really really poor. Pizzas are bogging .. There are a few places to eat outside the hotel , jimmy hills is good , kids can play in the soft play area, staff there are very nice and welcoming.
So to some it up - i enjoyed being on holiday with my family But
I would never go back to menorca.
Oh yeah there is no tabaco shops near so you have to travel either by taxi , 8 euro or bus , to the next town. We did find a restraunt across from jimmy hills , next to a supermarket that sold 200 in a vending machine .
other than that try buy them before you come :)

I arrived here for a week with my husband and two children aged 2 and 8. The holiday on the whole was ok apart from the four days of rain :( the all inclusive facilities were basic but could not grumble for the price.Although the queues were not great often queuing duringvevery sitting.
My main issue was that this complex was extremely large, busy with 100's of children in may and did not feel able to relax as i was always worried about the kids. I would not like to visit in peak season as it would be bedlam. resort was quiet limited and not much to do. No Menorcan character and beach was not great as full of jelly fish. Unfortunately i wont be visiting again x

We returned 20.05.13 after a week here - We arrived at Binimar after leaving home at 1 am 9 hours later, hungry with 2 small children and the rooms are not ready until 2pm - so be WARNED! - wouldn't go in May again as most of the week it rained and we where stuck in, there is a good entertainment team and they try the best and a kids club - evening entertainment is good very good for families - Rooms are very basic but clean, there is a nice little Water park a short walk way, supermarket ect - Don't bother buying tickets for the water park through the rep- They are exactly the same price! The Pools are FREEZING my kids where put off the water because it was just so cold, Thomas cook where so disorganised on the way back- we arrived at the airport on the same bus as people getting a flight 3 hours later who where at the desk before us and we literally had to run through security to get on the flight in time! Overall its a nice little resort, Weather a little unpredictable, Thomas Cooks organisation is poor and can imagine that it does get very busy during high season.

Dear guests,
We highly appreciate that you took the time to let us know about your impression of your stay.
I am sorry that on certains levels your holiday did not live up to your expectations. I do hope I can address all the points that you have raised.
International check-in across the world is 2pm, giving us time to get room cleaned and up to standard, all the flights land in a time and they arrived at the reception at the same time, so is impossible to us to make the check-in just when you arrive.
We are sorry that the weather wasn´t the best. It doesn´t depend on us. As well, we are used to have sunny days and high temperature.
We hope you will take us in consideration again if you decide to come back to Menorca.
Best Regards,
Sefa Benejam

We stayed at the Binimar from the 06.05.13 for one week as a family of 3. It was our first family holiday and I couldn't have been more impressed. We checked in swiftly on arrival and went straight to our room. We were in the pool by lunchtime. Granted it was opening week so our check in was a little less hectic than the ones I saw towards the end of the week. However, when they had busy check ins, Tayla and Darren (Thomas Cook Reps for the Binimar) were walking the queue offering drinks, apolgizing and chatting.
The rooms are a bit dated but as a base they served there purpose. We had the rooms cleaned very regularly. Think the longest we went was was 2 days without it being cleaned. Don't keep the card key to your door near a mobile phone because it stops the card key from working! Our room was upstairs, which was a bit of a pain as we had our daughters stroller (she's 2) and had to keep carrying it up and down but obviously the ground floor apartments are for those in need of cots, wheelchair access so its totally understandable. Our room overlooked the furthest pool on resort (there are 3 pools) and had the most magnificent views of Cala'n Forcat.
We stayed all inclusive and the restaurant is probably my only gripe, it gets very busy and at high season I can imagine this being a nightmare. However the staff are friendly and efficient and work very quickly to resolve queues. If you go self catering there's so much choice in the surrounding area restaurant wise. Most restaurants are laden with activities for children. Our favourite was opposite the Binimar and is called 'The Forum' I believe. Food amazing, staff fab and plenty for the kids to do!
Our daughter was too young to join the Kids club but the Kids club team all made the effort to acknowledge her and knew her name and would encourage her to join in, in the evening entertainment. Same with the Entertainment team. Also I must add that Darren and Tayla (the Thomas Cook Reps) are both extremely competent in their jobs, both very knowledgable in the area and easy to approach.
There is a waterpark a 5/10minute walk from the Binimar which unfortunately didn't open til our last day but looks good. The main town Cuitdella is just a short bus journey away and is well worth look as is trip to the Harbour. The views are picturesque and not to be missed.
Added bonus was that the weather was fantastic. A bit windy towards the end of the week but nothing a cardi wouldn't sort out. They have a suncare advisor on resort too, to advise you on your time spent in the sun!
All in all a fab holiday had at a great resort! Definitely recommend it!

Let me start by saying, this is a great hotel if you go self catering & have kids.

My partner & I stayed here from 10th May 2013 for 1 week all inclusive & we wont be going back.

The food was ok, not always hot but edible. The restaurant was a nightmare, way too small & cramped & we were there at the beginning of the season, would hate to be there at full season, every meal there we queues waiting to get in.

The bar , whilst the service was great when you got there, was way too small & understaffed for the number of guests staying, again would hate to see what it is like at full season! There is only one bar, its outside & right next to the entertainment tent, not good if you just want a quiet drink.

The pools were good, clean but cold & from what I heard they had only been filled the week before we got there.

I think that would be the main grumble about the week would be the disorganisation, no one seemed to know what they were doing, all the way from the reception staff, through to the chefs, entertainment staff & the holiday reps.

Another group of people we met had waited over 3 hours to check in! Let alone check out, OMG Thomas Cook are absolutely useless. There were 6 flights going out within about 2 hours of each other & they were all bused in together, but instead of getting the passengers whos flight left first to the desks first, they were all together, even knowing that at least 2 of the flights had over 3 hour delays on them. We ended up having to run through security & departure lounge to get onto our flight! Not the best way to end our holiday.

Would I go back to Menorca, yes. Would I go back to Cala n Forcat, yes. Would I book with Thomas Cook again, no probably not. Would I go back to the Hi Binimar, definitely not.

Room Tip: Go to a different hotel!

Dear Sarah,
We highly appreciate that you took the time to let us know about your impression of your stay.
About the check-in, they land all the Thomas Cook flights in a time and they arrived at the reception at the same time, so is impossible to us to make the check-in just when you arrive. As well, we try to make you feel as good as we can. The reps are also at the reception to attend you in case that you need something. We sorry about the long wait and we try to make it as fast we can.
The restaurant have a good time table, and we thing is enough for all the guests,
breakfast from 08,00 till 10,00 am , lunch from 13,00 pm till 15,00 pm , and dinner from
18,30 pm till 21, 00 pm. We also have snacks between the meals.
We are sorry that your stay in our facilities wasn´t good as you expect.
