“Holiday in the sun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

We absolutely loved our stay at the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Even the lovely ladies that cleaned our rooms, again helpful, polite and did an amazing job on the rooms, everyday we came back to a spotless room. It was a very handy venue for getting around, buses were never more than 3-7 minutes in arriving, trip from the airport was hassle free and cheap. If there was any criticism it would be that waiting to check in is quite a long process, and I think there should be more staff on the desk at peak times. We arrived quite late so it wasn;t that bad. It was a pity that we couldn't take advantage of the breakfast, as we did not want to pay for the whole six days, we like to be flexible about breakfasts and where we have this.

Room Tip: We had a side facing room but we could still see the sea and all the boats. If you wanted to sit on...

Four of us escaped our kids and flew (1.45 hrs from gatwick) into 35 degrees of sun. Hotel is in great location, excellent views of marina and right on the front, it rises up with peeling white paint on curving concrete balconies- it must weigh a ton! The pool is rudimentary but fine, the beer was cold and the service was friendly. The sun 'disappears' around 3, so hardcore sunbathers may be disappointed, but not why we were there. Breakfast was very good, good variety. Rooms were clean, and balconies were fine, but a little vertigo inducing! And, frankly, could have been 6 inches higher....

Only real irritation was that wireless network only supposed to work in lobby but didn't actually work at all. Come on mes amigos, it's 2012....

Lovely tapas bar next to Irish bar (turn left, 50 yards, and Irish bar good music and late. Also good night in bar on right but they lift drinks so be careful. Fabulous Italian , homemade pasta ( turn right and about 10 min walk) all on front, can't miss it.

We had a blast, all very convenient, good value, great break. Recommended!

This is the 3rd time I have stayed at this hotel. It offers excelent value for money, the staff are very friendly. Rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean. The breakfast choice is second to none. However, this was the first time I had dined in the restaurant in the evening and I was hugely disappointed. The service was not great and the food was of extremely poor quality. Our views were shared by another couple who had unfortunately booked in for 11 nights half board! They were proposing to request that this could be changed to bed and breakfast only. Enough said! I would have no hesitation in returning to the hotel but would not repeat the evening dining experience.

Room Tip: We paid extra for sea view which was lovely, but as Hotel is on main road into and out of Palma traf...

we stayed at the hotel for two nights for a city break for my birthday. we got there early but didnt book in because people were still booking out so we left cases in locked room which only staff could go in which i thought was very good. we went back at 2 and booked in no problem, the staff were very helpful and pleasant. the room was really spacious and the bed enormous, the view was excellent we could see all the marina and the city and cathedral at night it was amazing and the sunrises were beautiful. The bed was very comfortable and the room very clean. we paid extra for breakfast which was the usual buffet breakfast and was very nice. people complained about the reception being busy all the time, we did see this but we just went back later which worked for us, i suppose if your in a hurry it would be a problem.

Room Tip: we had a corner room on the left of the building and we had no problems with noise etc.

My girlfriend and I recently spent 5 nights at the Tryp Bellver. Checking in as well as any other services you may require from reception seems to take ages, up to 20 mins in some cases. The staff seem to be typing things into the computers but what can they possibly be typing?!? Our room was supposed to be a double, non-smoking with a sea view but we had none of these. As it was late at night I left it to the following morning to ask about changing rooms, but we were changed to another smoking room, so I complained again and we were put in another smoking room yet again! I was annoyed so I spoke to the manager who was very proffesional and gave us an upgraded room which really made up for all the confusion. The breakfast is really good (Ive actually stayed at this hotel on business before and I liked the breakfast so much I wanted to come back!!) you can sit outside by the pool and eat. Staff were friendly if just short on numbers. Perfect strolling distance from the town. Very nice reception area and lobby/bar. Will visit again.

Room Tip: Pay the extra amount for a sea view.

Stayed just one night prior to joining a cruise. Arrived at the hotel at 3pm and the room was not ready. Subsequently returned at 4pm and the room was still not ready! Two tiny twin beds instead of the queen room that was booked several months prior to out stay. Very expensive parking if you have a car. Breakfast was quite good. Overall the hotel was let down badly by the poor staff at reception. The standard of service seemed to be reflected it the restaurants in Palma as well. Maybe they don't like tourists - their bread and butter!

3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2012

I stayed at the Tryp Bellver on my second long weekend in Mallorca in early September 2012. The location was good, within decent walking distance to shopping areas and the old town. The room was clean, the beds are a bit on the hard side, and there is a nice little balcony to enjoy (ours had a view down the side of the marina and cathedral).
The bathroom is spacious, with large towels, but it has one of those terrible low powered hair drier on which you must hold down the button to keep it running. Very annoying for someone who needs at least 10 minutes under the hair drier.
The breakfast buffet here is the real star: it's absolutely massive and has every kind of fruit, meat, bread, cereal and yogurt you might want for breakfast. I originally did not subscribe to the breakfast but when we checked in, they offered it for 8 EUR per day and that was well worth the price (I think it would be a deal at twice that actually, and I don't usually go in for hotel breakfasts). It was also very nice to eat poolside.
The pool area was basic but nice enough and clean, but I suggested throwing down your towel and bag before eating breakfast otherwise you'll never get a chair.
We did not use the television or eat in the hotel restaurant.
