Stayed in the Costa Azul with my wife for 3 days during October. Took a taxi from the Airport (only 12 euros) as we didn't want to spend time looking for public transport, although there is a bus service available as we discovered later.
Very pleasantly surprised to find the hotel directly looking over the marina. Booked into room 207 and although there was a slight pong from the bathroom it seemed to abate after running the tap in the bidet now and again. Good enough room for a 3 star hotel and had a balcony with great view looking over the main road to the harbour. A bit noisy, but there were 2 sets of sliding double glazed doors which cut out any noise entirely. The plastic furniture on the balcony had seen better days and could do with being replaced.
Good breakfast with plently of rolls etc. Limited hot food but good for the price.
For a day out it is worth going on the old railway to Soller. Check the return times though as we ended up hanging about for a couple of hours for the return journey. We discovered later that you could go to Soller on the train and come back on a catamaran - don't know the details though.
Weather was brilliant fo October - in the 30s.
Would definitely stay in the Costa Azul again.

We stayed here in June 2001, and it was fairly good. We went again in October 2002 and it was terrible. The kitchen was being refurbished and the standard of food was very poor. I won't forget the evening when we were served Spam fritters, and the sight of an elderly gentleman banging on the table as he told one of the staff, "This is ------ rubbish". We decided not to stay there ever again, but earlier this year, having seen some very good reviews on this website, and liking Palma, we gave it another go, on half-board in June.
We were pleased that we did. The food was very good, all the staff were helpful, the internet connection was reliable and reasonably priced, and our room, on a high floor at the front of the hotel, was fine. Unfortunately I was ill and had to see a doctor, but the reception staff were extremely efficient and had one down to the hotel in no time. What is noticeable about the staff here (reception, bar and restaurant) is that several of them were there in 2001, which to my mind says something about the hotel, as it seems to me that if the staff are happy to work there long term then it is likely that the guests will be happy to stay there.
We will certainly be staying there again in the future, and consider the three star rating to be a fair one.

We (10 women friends plus a baby) booked our visit here on the basis of TripAdvisor reviews.
The stay did not get off to the best start when having arrived at 930 am some were given their rooms straight away while others were told they'd have to wait till midday. Three of us waited around all morning because we wanted to get unpacked, then when midday arrived it turned into another hour... by this time we were very hungry and very hacked off - they just shrugged and blamed it on previous occupants not vacating the room in time. This really could have been handled better. HOWEVER once we got into the rooms they were absolutely fine - great to have a fridge in the room although there was no hairdryer. Excellent blackout curtains plus shutters which really kept any noise and any light out. The aircon was working, but not capable of doing much other than taking the edge off the heat. The shower was powerful and there was even a bidet. Most staff were very pleasant and helpful, going the extra mile for us when we needed assistance. Although, it was very irritating to be charged 2 Euro in the bar for each lime and soda one day, then mysteriously 3 Euro 40c each for the same drink the next night! Should have had wine instead... Breakfast was particularly good with something for everyone from pastries to cereals, yoghourt, limited fruit and bacon/eggs as well as cheese & cold meats. There is a (tiny) pool on the third floor near an open tiled outdoor sunlounging area, which is a very satisfactory suntrap and place to lounge and chat, given that the beaches are a significant distance away. This is a good area to be in, overlooking the marina and about 15 minutes' walk from the attractions of La Lottja and the old town.

My partner and I had a lovely time at the Costa Azul Hotel in Palma. It is in a fab location in front of the marina. A short walk takes you to the city centre, where there is lots to see and do if you like sightseeing , a visit to the palace and the cathedral is a must. We had lovely weather during our stay at end of September/beginning of October. The hotel is on the airport bus route(no.1 bus ) with the bus stops literally next to the hotel ,the airport journey being about 20mins at a cost of 2 euros each way. You can also get a bus to Palma Nova /Magaluf beaches for about 2.50 euros each way.
The hotel itself was kept clean and tidy and the staff were very helpful and friendly . We stayed half board and found the food to be varied and tasty, The pool area is small but adequate for a leisurely swim and there is a nice sun terrace which has fab views over the marina and towards the cathedral. The room we were first allocated overlooked the sun terrace so we asked for a move to 4th floor which gives better views from the balcony,this was no problem to the reception staff.
