Palma is a great city - pretty much has everything - sun, shops, sites, ice cream...! Well worth a visit to the castle (the red sightseeing bus takes you there, the castle is the best stop on the route, 13 euros for a 24 hour ticket) and inside of the cathedral is a lovely surprise (4 euros)

The Costa Azul hotel was exactly what we wanted - easy access to the city sites (on foot or by one of the many buses), great views of the lovely yachts (there is obviously still money in the world!) and from the rooms on the upper floors you could see the cathedral. The busy road does make it noisy on the balcony but it's well worth it for the views and you cannot hear the traffic when the 2 double glazed doors are closed. Also it was the biggest hotel room and best shower we've ever had!

Considering this is a 3 star hotel I would say there was nothing really wrong with the food. Both breakfast and dinner were plentiful with great variety (although i agree vegetarians would struggle).

We didn't have any trouble finding anywhere to buy water - there was a shop 4 doors along open until 10pm and other shops nearby. For basic groceries there was a shop in the street behind the hotel but supermarkets are further away.

Overall I would say this was an exceptionally well run, clean and friendly hotel.

For a 3 star you cannot beat this hotel. The location is fantastic, we had a side balcony room which was large and spotless. The hotel staff were very nice and helpful, we stayed half board and found the food really nice, lots of spanish dishes which pleased us, why go to Palma and eat chips?. We went on the tourist bus, the harbour boat trip and the train and tram to Port Soller all were fabulous and inexpensive. We loved our long weekend in Palma and if we were to return we would stay at this hotel.

"As previous visitor comments the Costa Azul is an above average 3 star hotel which has friendly & helpful staff, particularly the Reception. The price of drinks within the Hotel is reasonable compared to outside. It is in a good location overlooking the fabulous harbour with Palma Cathredal about a 20 minute walk away. We stayed half board for 9 nights and enjoyed it, although the main road is directly in front of the Hotel, traffic noise can be intrusive . The breakfast in the hotel was slightly below average with less variety as we have had in other hotels. The main evening meals are buffet style with a reasonable amount of choice but the vegetables were always 'well done'. Unfortunately, the restaurant for evening meals did not open until 20.00 hours! The indoor/outdoor Pool area is 'very small' and the pool bar closes in the evening for some reason. The main Bar area allows smoking and consequently some nights the atmosphere was rather unpleasant. Don't bother ordering mid day snacks within the Hotel-over priced for what you get. Maid Service every day and with a smile. Yes, I would recommend this Hotel for its location and value for money."
Top Tip:"For mid day meals/snacks go to 'Marina Port' located adjacent to the Tourist information Centre (cross dual carriageway in front of hotel, turn right then walk alongside harbour for about 5 mins). Value for money, particularly Tapas or sea foods. Nice scenic location by the side of the Harbour. Definitely visit Palma Cathedral it has stunning architechture. Venture down the many side streets to look at the (expensive) Boutiques. However, if you choose to eat within one of the many restaurants by the Cathedral, be careful you are not over charged. One such establishment "Cafe S'Hort" charged 25 Euro for 2 Litres of beer!!! My wife & I were not impressed & reminded the waiter it is not advisable to rip off the tourists particularly under the current economic climate. Visit the caves of Drach or alternatively go on the old train to Soller. Finally, a special thanks to Fernando at the Tourist Information Centre by the Costa Azul. Very pleasant helpful and knowledgable person."

With partially sighted cousin suffering from from osteoarthritis. Both over 60. Second floor room with stairs to negotiate, no assistance offered. Plaster peeling in corridor, carpet not cleaned properly balcony kerb missing. Fridge didn't work, no written information about air conditioning, telephone etc. Some reception staff unhelpful deposit for safe key not returned
