“Overall good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

Stayed here for four nights for our wedding anniversary. On arrival our room was not ready so were told to go buy lunch and come back. No drink was offered to us as in other five star establishments that we had stayed in.

The breakfast was the best thing about this hotel. Everything you could want.

We did not eat our evening meal in the hotel as although they had a bistro (for lunch), the hotel dining room was not open every day for dinner. We found this out when we wanted to eat in the hotel for our special meal but were told it was closed and we could eat in the bistro. We had already had lunch in the bistro and the menu was exactly the same lunch and dinner so we had no option but to go out to eat. We did mention that it was a shame because it was our anniversary, but the reception staff just carried on talking amongst themselves. We found the reception staff courteous, but not friendly.

The pool areas are spectacular, but unfortunately is let down by the cleaning around the pool. We noticed an item of rubbish three days running near the edge of the poolside which had not been removed. The spa was nice, but the indoor pool could have done with a clean, and some rusty areas sorted out.
The hotel is about a 40 minute walk into Palma, which is ok going down, but better get a 5 euro taxi coming back unless you are ultra fit! There are no shops nearby, but the hotel does provide english papers free at breakfast which was a nice touch. About at 15 minute walk away in the opposite direction to Palma you will find a large shopping centre which we came upon by chance, which had lots of shops such as Zara and a hugh H & M, also Carrefour.
The rooms were cleaned to a satisfactory standard, no turndown service, and we did not actually see our maid in all the five days were there.
I think the hotel should open its main dining room in the evening and offer perhaps a buffet for those staying on half board. We were lucky that we did not pay the £300 to go half board for 4 days, because we would have been really angry to have to eat in a bistro with the same menu.
Would we come again. Possibly, but only for 3 days max and definetly get a cathedral view room on a high floor.

Room Tip: Go for a high cathedral room. The view are spectacular

3 night break with my husband . Great hotel-clean -great service and all the extra bits you would expect. We were upgraded to a suite with cathedral and sea view which was quite breathtaking .
It's a little way out of the town on a hill but this was fine for us.
Spa was very good . Pool area was just brilliant . Food was lovely too.
A great choice if you want a bit of luxury and large outdoor pool area .

excellent room, food, staff and view. spotlessly clean. We usually like to get out and about but found that we tended to stay by one of the pools, use the spa in the evening (fantastic) and often ate at the hotel. All in all a very relaxing week.

Just back from 5 days here and feel compelled to share my experience.
As you approach the hotel, it looks like a 60's concrete block, not very inviting.
However, don't let this impression worry you. The hotel and facilities are wonderful, recently refurbished, completely up to date, high quality and very tasteful. Beautiful interior, great rooms all with a view of the sea, wonderful swimming pools and spa. Nice location, top of a hill 10 mins in a taxi from the centre of Palma.
Unfortunately, it is badly let down by the very poor quality of staff working there. It was as if no one could be bothered. You get better service in McDonalds. There is no hotel manager and everyone seems to have their own agenda; ignore the customer or be unhelpful and sometimes downright rude if you can be bothered.
The food was pretty decent but in light of the shocking service, everything was way overpriced.
Maybe the staff were offended because I booked very last minute through travel republic and paid 200 Euros per night, I got that impression anyway. I've been brought up to treat everyone with manners, decency and respect. As a result I expect the same back, whether I'm paying 200 Euros or 400 Euros per night, it should not matter. Well it seems to matter a lot at this hotel.
It is the first time I have been told that it is impossible to have a late check out (I was prepared to pay extra), they did not even check the computer "we are very busy it is not possible", not even an I'm sorry.
No one even asked if we enjoyed our stay.

The hotel was lovely, everything I had hoped for, great room, nice bathroom with a relaxing spa and beautiful grounds. Two wonderful swimming pools with comfortable sun loungers. Unfortunately the service that I received from the majority of the staff was in stark contrast to the surroundings. They were completely unwelcoming, disinterested with any problems or requests and at sometimes even rude. Their behaviour is not at all what I would have associated with this type of hotel. Based on my experience I would not recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: I would not recommend this hotel due to the poor service

We have stayed here several times and always enjoyed it. The hotel has been much improved by the recent face lift. What we really appreciate is that many of the same staff are there every year and this year the chap on reception put us into a better room (on a higher floor so with even more fantastic views) because he recognised us!
It is not cheap but we work hard for this holiday and so don't mind. But we expect to pay Edinburgh prices. That's made up for by the good service, spotless rooms, great pool, good food and the best views in Palma!
