“Excellent City Hotel in a Very Musical City”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

The Saratoga is not a beach hotel, but it doesn't pretend to be. Instead, it is among Palma's best-located, cleanest, and most "happening" city-center hotels. The jazz and blues bands that play in the 7th floor club Thurs.-Sat. are truly world class; the breakfast is excellent; the pool area beautiful; and the staff very friendly. Indeed, I became slightly ill on the morning of my departure, and the staff cheerfully accommodated late check-out at no charge.

The rooms, mind you, are not large, so if you are tempted to save money by attempting to bunk two people into a room that is recommended as a "single," do re-think your plan. Despite their small size, the rooms feature a full bath, and the hot water is unlimited. Closet space is adequate, and the beds are comfortable. Oh, and each room has a balcony! Moreover, despite the hotel's location and its many in-house attractions, the rooms are, generally, quiet.

Regarding the beach, it's about a 30 minute walk. There are better beaches on the island, but there's nothing wrong with this city beach. There is a bus to the beach, but the walk is as easy as it is beautiful (it's just long, and seniors/mobility restricted persons should probably take the bus).

As to dining, the fine staff of the Saratoga will be pleased to direct you to good eateries; don't be afraid to ask, especially since Palma has become a real cuisine capital (well, at least for Mallorcan food, which is really good!). If you desire non-Mallorcan cuisine, there is Castillian, German, Argentine steak, Irish "pub grub," British fish & chips, and, sadly, American-style fast food, all within 5-10 minutes' walk from the Saratoga. Many places present live music; much of it is very good.

What's my "bottom line?" It is this: If you want to be in the city center, you need look no further than the Saratoga.

Room Tip: Room 335 was fine, though there might well be better.

A great hotel and I would really recomend it to everyone. I was there for a weekend so you wanna live close to "everything". Close to the bus stop wich take you to the beaches around Palma. Also close to great shopping. It's not located directly to the bar streets so it's not busy during the nights. Helpful staff and great service. Extra plus to the breakfast, wich was great!

This hotel is perfectly placed fro restaurants and shopping. It was classic Spanish style with a pool down stairs and a pool with bar service on the top floor. There is a jazz club and restaurant also on the 6th floor. Breakfast is served in the basement and has everything that you may need to start your day. Most of our party opted not have breakfast include and preferred to get something when we went out.

The taxi was 20 euros from the airport to the hotel. It was 5 euros from the hotel to the train station.

This is a good hotel, in a good position to be able to explore Mallorca.

Room Tip: The deluxe rooms on the upper floors are modern and chic and have a balcony with great views of the...

Our suite appeared to be recently refurbished and was lovely, from the fixtures and fittings to the broad balcony overlooking the pool and terrace. Everything was clean and well appointed and the service we received was fantastic. The rooftop pool area is a real bonus and we could have spent all day there.

We booked into this hotel for one night during a holiday in Majorca. Great location, fabulous room, we didn't eat here so cannot comment on the food. Bit confusing on check in at reception however, very busy so did not get any information regarding the car park, rooms etc. They could do with having more staff on during busy period. We did not book breakfast but they tried to add it to the bill on arrival so just watch what they are charging you for.
Tried to use the facilities but again, too busy with families etc. so never got the chance to try the roof terrace swimming pool.
Jazz bar good, nice cocktails:)

Lovely simple room, clean and tidy and spacious enough. Perfect location, easily walkable to art gallery & main shops & restaurants.
Lovely pool, fantastic service and AMAZING jazz bar and events in the evening. Definitely check it out.

My 6 year old daughter and 66 year old mother and I (39) stayed here for 4 days. I was really keen for my daughter to experience the delights of Palma having been several times before. I have stayed in the Puro, Can Cera and a hotel on the marina (forgotten the name). The Saratoga was the best - especially to explore the city and for value for money. Our room was massive with a very modern feel. Mini bar, 2 huge TV's (wasted on us as we were rarely in the room) We also had a balcony overlooking the courtyard which was always sunny. The hotel did have two pools. One which was very deep and shady and the other on the roof which was adequate for a quick dip - DO NOT expect to get a sun bed though. In our opinion, this hotel was perfect to explore Palma but was by no means a hotel for people whose ideal break is lounging by the pool. We took a bus to the nearby beach (1 euro each) and had a lovely day out. We also took the train up into the mountains (quite a long journey after the novelty had worn off) to Soller. After seeing several train loads arrive, we realised getting on the last train was going to be an ordeal which we couldn't face, so we paid a taxi 40 euros to take us back to our hotel. There are so many excellent places to eat and drink in Palma but for the sheer wow factor I would recommend Abaco - I know there are mixed reviews on here, but to see my little girl's face light up with the sheer splendour of the place, it was almost worth the 17 euros for a vodka and tonic!! I have to say, the waiters on the whole were a bit grumpy..however, I am sure they get sick of people just coming in for a look and taking pictures, even though you are specifically asked not to. Breakfast was included in our rate and I do think it's worth a mention as there were loads of choices cooked and cold. We really had nothing to grumble about. The staff were very, very helpful and their English was brilliant as well as their local knowledge. We visited the Cathedral and we also had a horse and carriage ride. All worth doing. We spent many an afternoon in the shade of some square or another munching tapas and sipping ice cold wine or of course Sangria. Please consider this hotel for your city break as you will not be disappointed.
