“Great Hotel, location and staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2014

I booked a three night stay here in March as a 60th. birthday treat for a very special friend and we had the most wonderful time.

From the moment we arrived the staff made it clear that nothing would be too much trouble, and the help they tried to give us with our problematic car hire proved they meant every word! They told us the area was safe and we wandered back at night never feeling any threat. They upgraded us so we could enjoy a view of the city at night.

Breakfast was great, loads of choice and so relaxed. Unfortunately we didn't have time for the spa, so much to see and do, but we will definitely be returning and I wouldn't look to stay anywhere else in Palma

Room Tip: High floor for the views

Great breakfast, room was clean and modern. Wireless a little weak in the room but thats about all I can fault. Good value for the location. Its about 20mins walk along the harbour from the main town centre. THere is a direct local bus from the airport and two and from the centre (Line 1) and the fare is 3 euro's from the airport. You just need to know when to get off...

Very large supermarket about 5 mins walk further west for stocking up with stuff. Didn't try out the spa and pool, but looked nice from the outside.

This hotel was light and airy through-out. The staff were excellent and the location great. We could walk into town in about twenty minutes or get a No. 3 or 46 bus very conveniently. Our room wasn't big but it had a balcony with a superb view of the port. There was an excellent buffet dinner with a large selection of dishes to choose from at a very reasonable price. I believe there was an equally good breakfast buffet too. We would certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: We had a room with a balcony overlooking the port. There was plenty of comings and goings to make an...

This hotel is to the west of Palma city, two streets back from the sea front and about half an hour's walk from the centre (there is a good bus service close by). The hotel was clean, helpful people on reception, decent breakfasts. Our room was quite large with a balcony and a rather distant and not too romantic sea/ harbour view. For a short break or business travel it would be a very sound choice. The main problem for us was that in March the airconditioning is not on so to avoid a stuffy room we had to sleep with the window open. We were disturbed by the noise of traffic and people going home after a night out. We are light sleepers!

Great location, lovely rooms, wonderful spa and friendly staff. Try and get a room on a higher floor for a nice view and cool breeze. The other guests were a bit noisy on Saturday night so carry some ear plugs. The breakfast is plentiful and well worth it. The spa was relaxing and a wonderful treat. Nothing bad to say!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2014

We stayed for 4 nights in March 2014, having booked a "Superior with terrace" room on the first floor of the main building.

Good points:
- Front desk staff very nice, friendly and helpful, and spoke excellent English.
- Excellent spa, very well equipped, clean and good choice of treatments available. Very nice and competent staff, clean changing rooms and the spa itself is newly-refurbished. This was our favourite part of the hotel.
- Convenient for walking into the centre of Palma, or if it's too late or you can't be bothered, very cheap in a taxi.
- Good choice of food at breakfast.
- Modern and comfortable lounge and bar area in the lobby.
- Great selection of TV channels in the room.
- Very clean throughout (apart from an issue with our room - see below.)
- Excellent shower.

Bad points:
- The room was small (no problem with that, we knew that when we booked it, sacrificing space for the terrace), but the bathroom/toilet door was no more than a sliding frosted glass screen and is right next to - and facing - the bed. Therefore, if you do what I did and eat some dodgy tapas at a local restaurant like I did, and spent most of the night in the bathroom, the light shines directly at the bed and keeps your partner awake as well (plus, the glass door is not exactly sound-proof, if you get the idea...)
- When we reached our room after check-in, the smell of cigarette smoke in there hit us immediately. We decided to try and tough it out for one night, thinking we might just be being a bit sensitive, but in the end we decided it was unbearable and asked to move. This was granted immediately by the helpful gentleman on the front desk, but the only alternative room offered was a twin, not a double as we had booked. Nevertheless, we decided to accept it. He commented that the rooms are non-smoking so should have not have been in that condition... which begs the question, why was it not spotted when the room was cleaned before our arrival, and why were we given it in the first place?
- The air conditioning in the first room was faulty (terrible noise coming from the fan); we saw a workman there the next day after we had moved room, presumably repairing it, but again, this is the sort of thing which should be spotted before a guest is checked in to the room.
- Noise. The terraces for this category of room are divided only by large (1m high) plant pots and plants, and are directly adjacent to each other. On the last night we had a problem with our neighbours, who considered it acceptable to sit outside chatting loudly until past 2am, and only quietened down after I went out and asked them to keep the noise down. Even afterwards, we heard the terrace door opening and closing frequently until past 4am. And even if you don't have noisy neighbours; if you are staying at a weekend and value your sleep, bring some earplugs with you. There was relatively constant noise from outside the hotel until around 5am; people shrieking and shouting, car horns and revving engines. It was impossible to get to sleep. I must reiterate, this only seemed to be a problem on the Saturday night, the other nights were fine - but even so, given the area the hotel is in (residential streets with a few "local" bars and restaurants in close proximity) I imagine this was not a unique incident. The noise insulation of the terrace doors is terrible for a 4-star hotel.
- The room decor looked and felt a bit tired and cheap compared to how it looks on the website photos.

Overall:
Overall we quite liked the hotel but our experience was marred by the problems above. The spa was great (make sure you book online at the same time you book your room, so you don't have to pay the "per day" rate to use it when you arrive) and the reception staff were very helpful, knowledgeable about the local area and very friendly. But I have to mark it down for the location (the surrounding streets are not pretty, and the noise was terrible on the Saturday night), the layout of the room (it sounds minor, but it actually had quite an impact on our stay), the sound insulation from outside (non-existent) and the fact that we were checked into a room which we really shouldn't have been, owing to the problems with it. Our experience would probably have been better if we had chosen a different (bigger) category of room.

Room Tip: Don't bother with the terrace room, go for a bigger/better room on a higher floor. If you want t...
