4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

We recently stayed at Hotel Isla for a week break in Palma.
When we first arrived we were given a hotel room overlooking the Car park. :(
We spoke to reception the next day and the helpful staff quickly arranged for us to move to a different room, on the fifth floor, over looking the pool.

We found the hotel very clean and modern. The breakfast was excellent and the pool area clean with ample free sunbeds.

Overall it was a great holiday and would consider going back in the future.

Room Tip: Rooms on first floor (our first room was 115) overlook the car park.

Stayed at the Isla for a few nights recently. Check in good and efficient and able to offer a secure bag drop if you arrive early, which is very beneficial as you can then leap into Palma centre for a few hours without any concerns.

The room was fine except for the fact that sound proofing between rooms could have been an issue if adjacent guests had been more of party party rather than sleepy sleepy. Basically, they need to address this as activities can been heard between rooms and in the corridor. Also someone in the next room was a smoker and somehow it drifted into mine and was unpleasant.

The balconies have a good aspect but don't expect a level of privacy that one normally associates with a 'Spa' hotel. I could look down on those below and see the drying T shirts of those next door as well as the dog ends of the smokers next door in glasses on their window sill. Apart from that, the room was fine, modern and well proportioned. The shower was great.

Room service and housekeeping were ok but for some reason the tea stash was not replaced daily.

If the idea of Spa congeurs up an adult only environment then be prepared for babies and toddlers. If that's ok with you then you will be at home here but when I go down for breakfast in a 4 star Spa hotel I don't really expect the next table to have a screaming toddler. They need to be careful how they pitch their hotel. That said the breakfast content was very good indeed and the servic, and courtyard tables also. Get the courtyard tables early is my advice.

This leads me on to the courtyard and pool and outdoor bar area. All great excpet for the constant piped music (musack). Bob Marley and UB40 on a continuous repetitive 60 minute loop is not good for your sanity. They need to stop the music entirely as most epole have iPods etc and don't need it. it also bounces up into the rooms if you have the balcony door open. Beware as it can be annoying. Basically, for a modern 4 star Spa hotel they can afford to turn off the pool music as it would improve the class of the place.

Location is fine; a short walk to the centre and Maritimo.

In summary, very ok but get rid of the pool musak. Would I go back, probably yes; is it good for a few day's break, probably yes. Enjoy.

So after arriving fairly late, pleasant welcome and on the face of it, a clean room. THEN you find a used sanitary towel in the bin in the bathroom which makes you think that the room was not cleaned properly... Not good. Nice pool area but gets very busy and no one adheres to the 'don't reserve beds' policy. Breakfast ok with varied choice. No effort to allow later check out despite being very quiet. Nice bars etc nearby but wouldn't stay here again - better - and cleaner - places.

The hotel isla Mallorca was perfect for our stay in Palma. Located close enough to walk to the heart of the palma daily (a pleasant 15 minute walk along the marina) but also in a quiet & chilled area away from the city.

The hotel itself is spotless, modern and well equipped. A business/holiday hotel with most guest being couples. We loved the outside area and pool which again was completely spotless. There were plenty of loungers and umbrellas on the sun trap terrace for guests. The pool bar was reasonably priced and does great cocktails and sangeria. There's also an indoor pool and jacuzzi but we didnt use these as we didnt want to miss out on the sunshine but they looked inviting.

We had a room on the 8th floor with small balcony and lovely view of the sea. Again, spotless and stylishly designed. Some people seem to complain about the size but it was perfectly fine for a couple. You can see a 360 view of the room on the hotel website so its clear what you will be getting. in fact we actually thought it was bigger than what we expected.

Theres free wifi which works well throughout the hotel and free bike rental which we found really useful. The staff were also helpful and friendly. We only ate in the restaurant once but it was a really delicious buffet with loads of choice and a decent discount for guests (20-30%). The hotel bar also does a great selection of cheap and cheerful lunches throughout the day.

I don't think I can fault anything about the hotel. I was originally choosing between the isla and the type bellver but having passed the bellver on our daily walk to Palma it seemed over looked, noisy (right on the main road) and not as 'fancy'.

So if you're looking for a hotel which mixes the best of a city break and relaxing by the pool then this is the perfect choice. We'll defiantly be returning.

Isla Mallorca is a good city hotel. It is located slightly outside the city center but you can either walk at the marina and sea or take a tour through Palma's trendy Santa Catalina quarter.

The hotel itself is absolutely okay for a short city trip. We stayed in an executive room. The size of the room and bathroom was fine. The bathroom could have been cleaner. The shower was slightly mouldy. The hotel has a bar where they serve drinks and sandwiches during the whole day, which is very convenient. We did neither try the restaurant nor the spa but stayed at the pool for an hour, which was nice.

Second stay at hotel last September we started in a Premium room (sea view). I booked a similar room via the call centre and was disappointed to see we were in a side back room. Immediately complained and was told that the rooms have been re graded and the sea view is now Grand Premium Room. This was not made clear at time of booking but we were moved.

Hotel is very acceptable. A business come holiday hotel. Don't expect entertainment etc. Breakfast is excellent - either inside or on the terrace. The pool is superbly clean and well looked after. It is nice and quiet with no raucous behaviour. Mostpeaceful. Apart from slight road noise but this is a city hotel. Hotel looks over the marina and cruise ship terminals and it is a delight to watch the ships go in and out of port.

I did have a slight issue over a hygiene issue which I reported to reception and was seen by the Customer Relations Manager. I was pleased that she took my complaint seriously and did not try to fob me

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and will return. A good break in pleasing surroundings.

We stayed here in early May on a room only basis.
The room was very modern. Not huge but fine for a couple. Air con worked well. We had a small balcony with a lovely view of the castle and part of the town.
The atmosphere in the hotel is very relaxed, mostly couples and mostly from Germany, Scandinavia, UK or Ireland. Reception were excellent. The area is just OK but you're only a few minutes (brisk) walk to all the sites of this lovely city. Can't really comment on food. We had one snack at lunchtime which was cheap and cheerful.
Not much of a pool person myself, but my wife and our friends thought the outdoor area was great and they also have a lovely spa (small charge). Would recommend if you're not fussy on being totally at the heart of things. Would probably go back - if we get a bargain again
