being fed up with the wonderful british summer we are having we booked this trip 3 days before we flew out , we had no idea what to expect but needed the break, arrived at the hotel horizonte about 5 am , the desk clerk had all our notes to hand and give us our key to room 103 , we made our way to the room and tried to switch the light on the light did not work and we found another light switch on the other wall, lights on and the first thing to greet us was a big cockeroach, he was brought down with a size 9 dm boot, and we had a quick look around, the room was not the best room i have ever seen but being knackard we got to sleep, we missed breakfast and went down for dinner, we enjoyed our lunch as we did the rest of the meals the rest of the week, we found the staff helpful and the hotel very relaxing, we hired a car which is over the road from the hotel and found the hill not a problem, the hotel has very good views and the pool was never crowded
to sum it up we had 6 nights in this hotel and i would return anytime, the staff are friendly and the atmotsphere relaxed
this is a very good value for money break and did not have any problems with the club seens.

Arrived on 07/08/2007 and the Welcome was poor no smile!!!!!! Didn't have our confirmation so was given room 235 which is the otherside of the Hotel passed the swimming area over the bridge. Walked out on to balcony and it was dirty and couldn't see as there was a palm tree blocking the view. Went back to reception to ask to change they said that there was no rooms till the following morning. Went out the Tuesday night when we arrived to find our way around. Walked down loads of step hills. Finally got to the Harbour 35 minutes later. Had a few drinks and found our way home the steep hills and loads of steps.

Wednesday 08/08/2007 went down to reception to change rooms and they said there was some free but had to pay 20 Euros to change. Moved to 349 which was ok and the view was great. The first night we was fine in this room and went out on the Thursday and came back to thousands of ants in the room and crawling up the waslls. Spoke to Reception to see if there was anything that could be done and they said they would get somebody to sort this out. Killed some of them with a shoe and there were just more coming. Went out this night and was told this would be sorted. Got back from a night out only to find loads more behind the bed all on the floor and in the bathroom. Went down and spoke to reception and they said that there was nothing they could do as it was to late. They gave us a bottle of Locus to spray on the ants and around the room. This was done and the room had a really bad smell after this, so had to sit around the pool till 3:00 while the room was being aired. There was no spare rooms to move to the receptionist said.

Friday morning went down and spoke to Reception yet again regarding this and they promised this would be sorted today. Had a bit of faith this would be done. Went to beach and returned about 6:00. Walked into room only to find this wasn't. Spoke to reception and asked if there was a room and they said the same thing 'No rooms free' we explained we couldn't stay in there another night. We had to stay there and move the beds near enough on the balcony to sleep.

Saturday went and spoke to reception and asked to see the Manager and have his card with his name. New face on reception Marga asked why whats wrong. I explained all the situation and she was helpful and moved us there and then. moved to 450. This room was ok no balcony but last night. Went out this night and had a good night come back no problems. Woke up in the morning as had to check out at 11:00 to have a shower and get sorted. Tried to turn the shower on and fell apart in our hands. Our flight was not till Sunday night. Went down to reception and asked if we could have another room and keep it on till later that day to freshern up. They said that we could have 450 for an extra 30 Eros. We paid this on the unstanding the shower would be fixed by the time we got back from the beach. Guess what it wasn't and we had to change again to a room with a shower that worked.

So in 5 days being there we had 4 rooms.

The Hotel was more Spanish.

The Hotel is on a Hill and takes around 35 minutes each way to get to the Harbour. The closest nicest beach is Palma Nova. 15 euros in taxi and 2.6 euros on bus.

Would not recommend this to any friends or family.

Management response from HOTEL HORIZONTE Andreu, Manager
(Management representative)
Aug 16, 2007
Dear sir .
First of all I want to apologize in the name of the Hotel . I,m Andreu and with my sister Marga we both manage this Hotel . It,s true that is August time and in Mallorca all the Hotels are fully booked everyday , so is difficult to change room sometimes . We don´t allow to take food inside the rooms to prevent ants . The Hotel is on a Hill and takes just 7 minutes walk to get the harbour just at 600 mts from the Hotel down the hill , to come back the Hotle you have to know that is the same way back with the steps or by bus 46 . . The closest nicest beach is Cala Major 2,5km , and my favourite Illetas just 4,5 km , and Portals Nous 8km and Can Pastilla where I live at 10 km ....
Hotel Horioznte is not a multinational Hotel, we have all nacionalities and in August most of them are from Italy . I,d liked to see you during your stay , but as you have my card and e.mail hope you can write me or call me . We have different room types and also different prices each ones . We both Marga and me are very sorry and thanks to you for your comments that encourages us to improve everyday .
Andreu

Nice view over the harbor and bay of Palma. Takes an hour to walk to town centre and nearest beaches quite are far away as well. There are some restaurants quite nearby, especially in the Porto Pi mall area (mostly American fast food chains). Bus connections to city and airport are rather good and the hotel has a small and nice pool area . Taking a 25-minute walk thru villages and forests to Bellver Castle is definitely worth it!

Our room was in annexe building on the other side of the road from the main building. To get there from the reception you had to walk downstairs, walk through lobby and bar, through pool area and cross the street via a bridge. Then you had to walk 5 floors down because the lift was not working.

We booked a double room, but were given a big room/"suite" with four beds, no extra charge. That was nice! TV in our room did not work properly, and had only 5 channels, all in Spanish.

Basic and unhealthy breakfast with no fruits or vegetables at all during our stay.

Most of the other guests were Swedish. The hotel and area is very peaceful, although sound insulation between rooms seems to be very poor.

Be prepared to walk up and down the stairs and roads, the hotel is on a hill!

Worth the money we paid for it.

Me and my friend wanted to get away for a week, something cheep and cheerful!! at £140 for 5 nights, it was ideal!! hotel was great, awsome swimming pool, friendly bar staff, rooms were really comfortable, balcony views were to die for, watching cruise ships arrive and leave all the time was lovely!!! the ONLY thing that me and my friend didnt like was the welcome we got at the start, it wasnt the warmest, but as time went on, they were ok, but the hotel as a place we could not find a fault!! we would REALLY recommend this hotel. It's been refurbished recently.... If your looking for somewhere cheep but comfortable and great facilities, then this hotel is for you!! we went out of season before the schools broke up so thats why we got it cheep, (2nd week in July) Enjoy...!
