“Not for couple- hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

Supposedly this is the best hotel in town. Placed in front of the civil registry office, my husband and I spent our wedding night there. We stayed at the executive floor room No.407, not too spacious but okay. Of course the standard is so different between 4 stars hotel in vitoria and in Bali. But honestly I dont think this hotel deserves such title.

First of all, all equipments, bath robe, soap, etc were only available for 1 person, including the tea cup etc, while my husband's mother had emphasized that it was for a wedding night of her son. The carpet was a bit wet, the bed is not very comfortable not to mention it made noises when it moved.

The breakfast was okay, but for 4 stars hotel is a bit low standards. And I really miss hospitality which I easily found in any hotel in Asia.

Definitely this is not for a couple, which is a pity because Vitoria is quite romantic.

I liked the hotel. It was easy to find with the satnav. You can unload right outside before you find paking nearby ,or do what I did and drive straight into the secure underground paking the hotel offers for a small extra charge.
The hotel is quite big,and part of a chain,so no personal touches but instead it offers a slick check-in and check out and uniformly efficient service from English speaking staff
Our room was a decent size for the price.More importantly it was clean and comfortable with all usual amenities for a hotel of this category in a European city. The bathroom was a good size with adequate towels and toiletries and had a modern attractive style
Breakfast was very good ,buffet service and a varied selection to choose. Many business folks seem to use the hotel, normally a good sign I find.
The walk to the sights in the old town is about 15 mins ,but it's quite an interesting walk so it's not a chore.
For the price you should get on the net through the usual hotel booking sites I reckon it offers excellent value for money and I plan to stay again next summer when I re-visit this lovely, and much under-rated city.I think the hotel gives you all you could reasonably expect for a 1 or 2 night stay at a sensible price.

Arrived for a one-night stopover in the pouring rain but able to park for unloading outside the front door. Check-in seamless and room on third floor was pleasing, airy & clean.
The Silken Hotel is nicely situated about 300 metres from the cathedral, beyond which is the old town.
It being a Sunday, the hotel restaurant was unfortunately closed for dinner although the café was open and, in retrospect, we would have been far better staying there for tapas and a light meal rather than venturing out into town, where most other restaurans were closed also.

Room Tip: Higher floors help reduce the effects of early morning street noise, but there are only four floors...

I stayed in this hotel for three nights. I enjoyed my stay. The hotel is confortable, quite centrally located.
The room was big enough, the bathroom well equiped.
Very calm at night and even in the morning, no noises from the street nor from the other rooms.
Nice and efficient staff. Free wifi ( a bit too slow ). Paying fitness center (€13).

Our first visit to the Silken chain will not be our last. we got a great deal online and were bowled over with the luxury and service. The desk gave us a recommendation for a terrif nearby restaurant open on Sunday night. We were real pleased.

General

A lovely hotel framed in a classic façade and convenient location to explore the city. Convenient parking under the hotel with direct access to the lobby and rooms – also a reasonable price.

4/5 Check-in/out: Excellent and efficient process.

4/5 Room: Nice bright room with tasteful modern but calm décor. Extremely comfortable bed and well laid out bathroom.

4/5 Ambience/General: Seating area in the Lobby and a pleasant bar and restaurant.

Food

3/5 Breakfast; Reasonable but not exciting.

5/5 Staff; Extremely efficient in all areas

Average Summary Score:4.0 / 5

Would definitely stay there again.

We stayed there for only one night but the hotel was really comfortable. We found also a very convenient offer on the Internet (around 70 euro per night), so we enjoyed even more our stay. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom had also the same, positive, characteristics and the minibar was really good furnished. Sleeping was a really relaxing experience. Only Internet could be faster and the rooms could enjoy of a bit more light. It is just 5 minutes walking to the city center (Vitoria is a really nice and cosy city), but the position outside of it is very useful if you are by car: you don't need to go inside the small streets of the city center. I think that the hotel has a parking but the public parking just 100 m far is also a good option.
Nice stay.
