“High for location, but average in other categories,”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013

We respect ranking within TP but ae sometimes surprised. Record ranks high for location as it is close to the city but it should be lower elsewhere. We stayed for two nights.

Service: Registration and room allocation were smooth, but staff there lacked knowledge in most other areas: hop on hop off bus, bicycle rental, other bus routes etc. Need some coaching.

Value: Good value for the price as the rooms are large. Many windows that need to be shut at night because of road noise.

Sleep Quaity: Comfortable beds but noisy at times, closing all windows and balcony door helps to minimise noise. There is a garbage truck that comes by at about 4am to pick up garbage and it makes a loud noise when compressing the garbage. Even with windows shut. Motorcycle high pitched noise, cars zooming by all add to the sleep depriving noise. Light sleepers, be aware of this and book other hotels.,

Cleanliness: Clean rooms, sheets, beds etc. Furniture needs upgrading.

Location: Tops, walking distance to downtown and railway station, beach.

Rooms: Large, two large single beds, spacious. Hot water in tea cups provided from cafe downstairs for free, no coffee and tea making facilities.

Room Tip: Ask for a quieter room is you're a light sleeper, ours was in front and noisy.

The hotel is a short stroll from the beach and close to the many bars that make San Sebastian special. Our room (twin as there were no doubles left) was fine and had a terrace, which was an added bonus. There is no air condidtioning, which could be a problem at the height of summer. We were travelling by car so having a car park was great as parking fees can get pricey in Europe. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was more than satisfactory. An enjoyable stay!

We choose Hotel Record for its location and car parking. The latter was a challenge with very limited space for larger cars. The reception/breakfast staff were excellent, but the hotel was very shabby with limited facilities, little sound proofing and of an overall quality which would be more consistent with a price of under half that charged. This was one of the most expensive hotels we stayed in Spain and France in 3 weeks but it was definitely the poorest by a very long way. Just compare it ot the Hotel Europark in Barcelona which was cheaper, cleaner, quieter, better located and with excellent facilities.

Room Tip: Definitely avoid the room near the reception/stairs on the ground floor. With no a/c all rooms on th...

this hotel is clean comfortable very friendly staff who can't do enough for you. situated not far from the towns bars and restaurants.... the hotel has a typical spanish feel, the rooms are clean , tidy and functional.
breakfast is very reasonably priced and plenty of it , the manager was very kind to offer secure parking for our luxury touring motorcycle which was reassuring....
only down point is in height of summer is the rooms must be I'm terribly hot has no air conditioning in this hotel, but weres are available, and having windows open obviously you get the noise of the traffic...........

Clean comfortable hotel in a great location for visiting Donostia. Staff lovely, they are informative and helpful. breakfast very enjoyable. Bedrooms clean and comfortable. If i had to say anything negative - there is no coffee making facilities in the room - no big deal - i will certainly come again.

Room Tip: Balcony rooms are great but light sleepers beware this city doesn't seem to sleep!

This hotel offers free parking, first come first serve. A rare find in San Sebastian.
Our room had 2 beds, both a bit sagging.
Lack of airconditioning when outside temperature gets to 32 C, the fan doesn't help. Leave the window open and the noise from the bar next door can be heard at 12:00 midnight.
Staff s very helpful, recommended many good restaurants.

We had 2 nights at Hotel Record.
The staff, as others have commented, provide exceptional service.
The accommodation is very basic but comfortable and the breakfast excellent value.
The location was perfect and quiet, especially considering the Film Festival was on. We had no disturbance from other guests.
I gather the balcony rooms upstairs provide a little more space, so ask for them if available.
