“Good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

We booked this hotel purely for the location as we decided a month before to visit San Sebastian, so there were no other reasonably priced hotels left on the seafront. We didn't expect much (other than a sea front hotel). I think the price we paid (£142 per night) was a bit much though.

We had a sea view room on the top floor. The view was good but the window could've been bigger, it was very narrow. Our view was hampered not only by the small window but also by the big gaping hole in front of the hotel. It seems like there used to be another building in front of it, with now only the foundations remaining. It really is an eyesore and you can't miss it when you look out the window.

The room was clean and bathroom nice + well stocked. Everything in the room was very dated though. Twin beds pushed against each other but I guess you don't really get anything else in Spain. The mattresses were good though. Surprisingly there is a stocked minibar in the room. Big flat screen TV but not one English channel, not even CNN.

There is parking for about three cars in front of the hotel (on the premises). We managed to get a spot here and it was totally free of charge. I think it's luck of the draw though and if you end up in the street you will need to pay (I think they said € 25 per 24 hours but I am really not sure about this).

It takes about 25 minutes to walk to the old town and a cab ride cost us between € 7 and € 10, depending seemingly on how fast the taxi driver wanted to go! :-)

Avoid breakfast at all costs. The coffee is ok but your only choice is between black or with milk. No other hot drinks. menu very, very basic and pastries were extremely sweet.

All in all I guess I would stay here again but I would rather look for another hotel first.

La Galería was a fabulous find. We were so pleased with our room, which had a beautiful ocean view, and was on the top floor. The bed was comfortable, and the room and bathroom were quite spacious. We very much enjoyed our stay, and would recommend the hotel.

Unfortunately we had to stay here recently for 4 nights as all else was booked. The location was great, parking onsite only for around 8 to 10cars was OK.
Light breakfast available until 10am but after that, nothing including no tea or coffee facilities.
Our room was tiny and you had minimal toiletry items and no hair conditioner.
The bed was VERY hard and we are used to firm beds.
Sleep was difficult as the walls and floor seemed to echo all sounds.
Disappointed for the price paid.
All other hotels we stayed in Spian over 4 weeks were better.
Good luck.

Room Tip: Ask for upstairs balcony if available as larger.

In fact these three starts are mostly for the view. We were in room 403, it was looking at the beach. I fell in love with this city at first sight just after this view from the hotel room. However, I did not like the bathroom, it was not very useful and water was too cold or too hot. Moreover, it was not so well cleaned. The room was good enough to stay two nights, and the hotel was in a great location. They also had bikes to rent half or full day, which was great for us because we used the bikes for two days to see the city! We paid 125 euros a night, and breakfast was not included (?), I wondered why , because Spanish breakfast generally sucks, (coffee and muffin maybe) so why one star less by erasing the breakfast from the list? They had a small parking lot just in front of thr hotel. You just had to leave the keys to the reception when you didn't use your car. Another deficient was the people at the reception, I did not understand if they were happy to be there or not....

Awesome views of the beautiful beach. Nice big rooms. There was construction going on in front of the hotel when we were there which was part of the view but thats if you look down. Look up and all you will see is beautiful beach. Would definitely go back. It's a bit of a walk into the main part of san sebastian though but its walking along the beach which is always awesome.
This hotel was great value and friendly.
Make sure you check out the little double story restaurant bar thing right on the beach directly across from the hotel, called Playa De Ondarreta - we sat on the roof top drinking jugs of sangria, people watching and eating snack foods until we couldn't anymore...and such a short walk back to your hotel. A win. Be sure to eat at La Perla restaurant also which was delicious and beautiful view.

We stayed for a couple of nights at this cozy hotel and we had a great experience. Our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable, and it had a beautiful view of the bay. If we were to come back to lovely San Sebastian we would definitely try to get again a room there.

Nice view, nice staff, nice hotel. No problem. Quiet and near by the beach. Free Wifi. Mini bar, tiny bathroom but nice room. We would come back if in Donostia. nice stay, nice weather, nice walking on the beach with donostian people along the beach ...

Room Tip: Choose rooms on the front.
