“Great location on quiet Street”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

This pension has charming rooms and is in a great location on a pedestrianised street so it is nice and quiet. Just a short walk to the bars and restaurants in the old quarter - highly recommended. It is handy to the RENFE station as well as the Euskar and bus stations and only a stones throw from the beach

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at Pension la Perla and the personal input from the reception staff in English was appreciated, although reception was often unmanned. The location is excellent in the centre of town and just a short walk to the beautiful beach. In the next building is a large supermarket and fresh market. The room was old but comfortable and we appreciated being able to make a cup of tea. There is a microwave in the room but no utensils. The modern lift was a bonus too.

My wife & i (mid 50's) stayed at the La Perla for 3 nights in early October 2012 & could not fault it.The room was en-suite,very clean had a little balcony & included a television, fridge & microwave.Tea,coffee, hot chocolate along with cakes & croissants were available in the reception area (free of charge) together with free internet.
The girls at reception speak excellent English so communication is not a problem & they help all they can to ensure you have a pleasant stay.
The pension is smack bang in the centre of San Sebastian so shops, supermarkets, cafes, bars & restaurants are right on the doorstep.
We would not hesitate to stay at La Perla if we visit the area again.

Donostia is an upscale resort town of the highest caliber, comparable to the French Riviera where accommodations for the modestly-incomed is rare if not impossible. Luckily, there exists Pension La Perla - affordable, clean, handy to a manner of transportation, centrally located amongst the finest boutiques, restaurants, cafes, and out of this world beaches. The staff is uncommonly patient, friendly, enthusiastic and most helpful (far moreso than that of Hotel de Londres on the bay where we stayed one night, waiting for an opening at La Perla). Many of the reviews mention no elevator, but there is one now, with one small step up at the door. And while, yes, the rooms are cozy, as it were, we were more than happy to accept the tradeoffs of being in a city which would otherwise be financially prohibitive for us. We were most grateful and pleased with our stay there.

Arrived in San Sebastian without accommodation. Not realising there was a massive festival on. Walked around, bags in hand, looked online, everything seemed booked out. Looked up and saw La Perla Pension! What a highlight of our stay. Family operated, they make it feel like home. Great location, great value, clean and well appointed. But to have a local like Racquel who speaks English so well was very helpful. This has been a better experience than higher priced hotels we've stayed in. They were even able to move us around to another of their pensions so we could stay longer. They truly deserve this review, & we thank them very much for our stay.

Modern building in great location not far from beach or old town in the middle of many shops, cafes etc and right next to the cathedral. Checkin was easy (nice big modern elevator for a change). Reception was friendly, spoke very good English and was helpful with parking. Room was clean with TV and a fridge! Plus little balcony. Room was a little on the small side but not an issue. Great value! We will be back!!!

I really liked this pension. It is very conveniently located in the city center. 5 minutes walking from both the beach and the old part of town. It is very clean in general and they clean your room everyday. They have free wifi and coffee. Although it is right in the center in the first floor, our window blocked the outside noise very well.

I also found it very affordable compared to prices in the area (20 euros per person per night in a triple room).
