“Super hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2012

This design hotel has 1 central theme: film....You will find this theme in every detail in the hotel. It is fun and original. The location of the hotel is not nearby the city centre but after a 10-15 minutes walk through a nice city quarter you are right in the middle of the old town. The rooms are great and spotless, although a bit nosy...You will know it when your neighbour takes a shower!! The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel has its own parking garage which is very convenient. Breakfast is varied and extensive. The gym at the top floor helps you keeping your weight under control while spending a few days in delicious San Sebastian!

Rooms and bathrooms were VERY nice, small but clean and well appointed. Breakfast was really very good, great service. The location was great, underground parking nice, safe. Walking distance to the fun, Basque area and great shopping, sightseeing, etc. We felt this was a great value and nice, clean, safe hotel. Room was a bit hot in the night but front desk told me we should have called reception and they would have adjusted temperature.

We were here for four nights in the beginning of June. The theme of the hotel is the San Sebastian Film Festival, and as such each room is named after an actor who has visited the festival. The decor is modern and the rooms, while on the smaller side, are comfortable and chic. The actor theme is a nice touch if you are a movie fan (which I am). The breakfast buffet in the morning was very good and had a good variety of food. In terms of location, the hotel is located about a 10-15 minute walk from the center of the city, but San Sebastian is a great city to walk around in and very safe so that was not an issue. Overall, a great value and a lovely stay in San Sebastian!

A bit off the ideal centre of town, but if you like the idea of lounging in luxurious sofas sipping on coffee as a break from the city, it's perfect. Really thoughtful design throughout the hotel.

Ny wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is decorated nicely in vintage and moder themed movies. The room and bathroom was large and the staff was especially polite and helpful. It is only a quick 7 minute bus ride into town or about a 15 to 20 minute walk. There is a great market, cafe and bar just down the street. I highly reccomend this place if you want to stay in a modern, upscale place

We spent a night at the hotel June 20, 2012. This is a "theme hotel" (Holywood-films-the San Sebastian festival-actors-classic movies): Alfred Hitchkock is waiting for you in the lobby and Charlie Chaplin's classic are shown on a wall. Cute.
The room we had was noisy (8th floor); not very big and a bit spartan. The prices speak for themselves: I found them outlandish. It is 20minutes walk from the fun part of Donostia (puerto viejo) and there is no restaurant around the hotel.
A disappointment given the price.

I loved having a decent sized hotel bed for a change and its only 15 minutes walk to the old town/beach and 1 minute walk to the bus stop. My main complaint is that despite booking the room under my name and paying with my credit card, the front desk staff deferred to my partner when we checked in and they prepared the invoice in his name. I can only assume this is because he is male and I am female. If true, this overt sexism is both shocking and offensive. Another less serious issue (which is nevertheless annoying) is that they do not permit you to bring food into the hotel. You can buy lovely fruit and pastries from the nearby shops so it's ridiculous that you have to sneak these into your room.

Dear MsMozman,

First of all, we would like to thank you for taking the time in sharing your experience at our hotel.

From your comments, I understand you felt uncomfortable with your room bill. Even though you personally made the reservation, the final invoice was printed under the name of your partner and not yours. This is probably due to the fact that, upon check in, we registered your partner’s name first and yours second but with no particular second thoughts or priority. Rest assured that we provide our customers with an equal service regardless of their religion, national origin, race, color, or sex (etc…).

Regards,

Guillaume Fontagné
