A truly magnificent hotel......from the moment you set foot in it you can only marvel at the surroundings. Having said that its not stuffy or smug - it genuinely is a good place to be with a warm atmosphere. We had the breakfast on the terrace which was awesome if a little pricey...also ate in the cafe which was great and had cocktails in the lounge - which has just the coolest decor...The staff could not be more helpful and the location is second to none - we walked everywhere in this compact, fascinating and family-friendly city.

A good base for a few days in Bilbao

Hotel was great. bathtub in the center of the room was a huge plus. staff very helpful with excellent restauarant res. but the crowning part was the hip breakfast room with an incredible view of the hotel. Buffet breakfast, not included was well worth the money for the view.

My partner and I stayed here after finding an excellent deal at activehotels. After a lifetime of budget travel I thought we might as well try the five star, and was expecting something fairly up-market: however, this hotel was far beyond any of my expectations.

The atrium is stunning, with a glass elevator rising up past a blue sculpted centrepiece: the staff are friendly and professional: the restaurant serves great food. We had a room looking onto the Guggenheim, which was absolutely wonderful: just perfectly made - wonderful attention to detail - deep, luxurious bath, soft bath towels, CD player, individual aircon, etc etc. The staff also personalise each visit: we would return in the evening to find chocolates, and little keepsakes on the freshly made bed. The breakfasts were delicious too: fresh fruit, yoghurt, local meats and you eat on the roof overlooking Frank Gehry's unbelievable building, with views of the hills that rise up aorund Bilbao.
