“Very good designer hotel close to city center”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2014

The hotel is just facing the Guggenheim museum. Spacious rooms with good beds and very clean. Modern hotel with all facilities. Valet parking at arrival in hotel garage. There is a very nice terrace on the roof of the hotel.
The old and new city center are both at walking distance. Nice walk along the river on a promenade to the old center

Dear Wolter v,

Thank you very much for your feedback. We are glad to read that you liked the cleanliness and the bed, as the rest of our guests is one of the aspects we most value. It is also a pleasure to know that the valet service matched with your expectations as well as our terrace facing the Guggenheim did.

For all these reasons, we are looking forward to hearing from you if you came back to our city on a future trip.

When buying real estate it's all about "Location, Location, Location", and that is probably one of the main reasons you stay at the Silken Gran Hotel Domaine Bilbao. It is only a matter of crossing the street and you are standing in front of Gehry's architectural masterpiece, the Guggenheim Museum. We only had one night at this hotel but would have happily stayed much longer if time had permitted. On arrival we were warmly greeted and welcomed to the hotel, our luggage unpacked from our car then parked for us. The check-in was completed in a professional and efficient manner. Our room was very spacious and extremely clean, it faced onto a street which provided views from our large balcony.

The king sized bed was one of the most comfortable we slept in during our two months in Europe.
After we had checked out we were having difficulty locating our next destination on the GPS. Several staff members from the hotel sat in our car and located the town we were looking for. It may have been a small simple gesture but this type of service is what we appreciate and what makes a great hotel even better.

Very nice hotel with a fantastic view to the Guggenheim Museum. Breakfast and lunch was nice and the rooms fine. Went jogging a few times along the river and museum. Many bars and restaurants in the area.

Staying at The Gran Domine allows you to have the unique experience of watching a scene at many different times of the day. And what a scene! There is an endless parade of interesting people--not the typical tourists--strolling on the plaza and musicians playing music. The Gehry architecture catches the light and constantly changes colors and shifts shapes with the shadows going in and out of the unusual building's walls. Get a membership and skip the lines. Drop in at odd times and enjoy the views out of the museum as well as the amazing exhibits within, at a leisurely pace, because you "live" across the street. The rest of the city isn't far away. The old town is a very nice 15 minute riverside walk. But my favorite neighborhood was near the hotel. Bilbao gets more rain than the rest of Spain and when traveling internationally, it is not unusual to find oneself up at odd hours. Because of the Domine's location, you will not feel cheated by these challenges. Often a good location means a less attentive staff. Not so here. They are very alert and provided us with great service. PS There's a pizza restaurant two short blocks from the hotel that is perfectly safe to send your picky teenagers to alone while you eat something delicious, exotic and expensive.

Room Tip: Get a view of the museum. Viewing "Poopy" at night makes his saccharine sweetness edgy and...

I stayed in this on a business trip that I decided to take my wife and baby girld with me. Everything in hotel was excelent starting of with the registration at the desk. We arrived a couple of hours before we could check in, however they were very keen in getting us a room and despite not having one free when we arrived they arranged a room 40 minutes after.
This was also the first time we took our baby girl on a plane trip and stayed in a hotel with her so we were a bit "afraid" on how things would go. However, the staff of the hotel was very nice and provided almost everything we asked for.
The hotel itself is located just in front of the Guggenheim and having breakfast in the last floor of the hotel facing the Guggenheim is priceless. The rooms were also very nice, the only negative aspect is that you can see people from the room to the bathroom since there is a window and the blinds to not block everything.
Overall it was a very nice hotel to stay in and since Bilbao is not such a big city you can walk everywhere.
Will definitily stay in the Silken Gran Hotel Domine in my next trip to Bilbao.

Dear EUAS,

Thank you very much for taking the time to send us your review. We are particularly proud of being the first hotel that has accommodated your baby girl and have the chance to be now a little part of your family's memories. We appreciate the nice words you dedicated to our room and, in special, to our staff, as they will be a motivation for our team to keep working in the same direction.

As you said, we are sure you will come back to our property, so we are already looking forward to that moment.

Opposite the Guggenheim with a great view!!
Modern hotel with knowledgeable staff.
Remember to right a message before you leave on one of the many stones contained in the lobby centrepiece feature.
The barmaid also knows how to make a real Gin & Tonic!!

Dear Jo B,

Thank you very much for sending us your review. It is a pleasure for us to know that you enjoyed our whole hotel, including the bar and the design. But what makes us specilly happy is the fact that you describe our staff as "knowledgeable", as it is our aim to be helpful and close to our guests in order to comply with all your needs and wishes.

For all these reasons, we hope you will have no hesitation in coming back to our Silken Gran Hotel Domine Bilbao if you decided to come back to Bilbao in the future. For the moment, we will keep your name in the stones by Javier Mariscal as a memory of your stay with us.

This hotel is directly opposite the Guggenheim Museum, in an area steeped in culture.

I cannot fault it.

There are many nice tapas bars out of the main entrance and turn right.

A shopping mall is 1km walk away.

Room Tip: Go for a Guggenheim view.
