We stayed at the Gran Hotel Domine Bilbao for two nights in October 2012. Drove to location and GPS found the hotel easily. However, right outside the hotel there were barriers - I got out to check that we were in the right place to park our car - the bellman said yes but didn't offer to help shift the barriers so that we could park the car to get our luggage out. I shifted the barriers to get the car parked as traffic was building up behind us. He then came and helped. I found him most unhlepful and certainly did not have a friendly attitude to us arriving at the hotel. He was slightly older and I would have thought he would have been promoting the hotel. However, this was the only negative we encountered and it was a shame the gentleman was like this. The other bellman (younger) was very obliging as were the rest of the hotel staff. There was a Ducati conference on at the time which made for great excitement for my husband on seeing the motorbikes.

We were upgraded to a suite which was delightful. The staff at reception were friendly and very efficient - would highly recommend this hotel. Beds are so comfortable - didn't want to get out of them really. The hotel has the perfect location looking towards the Guggenheim Museum and each night we sat in our room admiring the complexity of the Guggenheim and experienced seeing it with certain lights as the sun was going down. Magical!

We were advised that because of the Ducati Conference that if we wanted to dine in the restaurant we should book that night. We were going to go anyway but went that night - fantastic meal and service. Great views to the museum and all in all a wonderful experience. One of the best meals we had in Spain. We couldn't fault anything with the meal - in fact exceptional!

The rooms are beautifully appointed and very modern and tasteful - we loved the decor of the rooms and the hotel. The bar area is quirky and lovely to relax in to have a drink. The Cafe/Restaurant on ground level is very good for a meal or a drink. Great service here and fantastic food.

Breakfasts were so,so good!! Everything you could wish for - wonderful fresh fruits, cereal, fresh fruit juice and anything you wanted really. Would recommend this to anyone.

If you want to stay at a very special place to experience the Guggenheim Museum stay at Gran Hotel Domine Bilbao - you will not be disappointed - in fact you will thank me for recommending it to any Trip Advisor member - well worth the extra cost over other hotels. Exceptional service and hotel amenities.

Went to the Gran Hotel early in December for a pre-xmas city break.

The hotel was central only being a short walk to most sightseeing hot spots. The tram is close by if walking is not your thing.

Hotel was to a high spec and very comfortable.

Booked as a package with Easyjet.

Located a short bus journey from the airport with a regular bus service.

We were with friends for a long wekend and had our doubts about being so far away from the old town but it really wasn't a problem as the tram system is very close and efficient. Close by are all the shops on the Gran Via and little bars and restaurants although most of the good ones are in the Casco Viejo (see review for Deliciosa) We also ate at the Guggenheim Bistro booked in advance for a table with view, 25 set menu was very good including wine, fabulous veiws and then a stroll along the river to walk it off,it couldn't be closer to the hotel. Big rooms with baths and showers welcome after a day walking around staff very efficient and friendly particularly the bar staff although it is expensive to drink here it is a great place too meet up.
Breakfast was superb great choice of fruits and hot cooked breakfast as well as smoked salmon and asparagus, pity about the coffee but that's what you get at hotels.

Our 3rd time at this hotel, just a flying visit so we opted for a standard room. No complaints! Thought I'd miss the luxury of a Guggenheim view and fancy bathroom, but not really. Our room was spacious and had all usual items we're accustomed to. Staff are courteous and efficient and the bar serves one of the best mojitos we've had. Everything is within walking distance and perfect for pinxos-hopping. We'll be back!
