“A great choice for a family of 5”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2014

The location is good - easy to drive to and with big views across the river and into town. The hotel is a short walk from the old town with some great little bars and shops. It's possible to walk to the Guggenheim and it's a nice walk: along the river. The apartment's kitchen is well-equipt. I'm sure it's easy to find an apartment in Bilbao with more charm, as this place is quite 'soul-less' but it was clean and perfect for a family of 5. It's on the 'right' side of town for joining the road to head south (directon Sevilla) and it's fairly easy to find a parking space on the street for free (in March anyway!).

Rude receptionist: we arrived and drove into the car park, and were ticked off for not reporting to him before driving in: how were we to have known? Booking.com says only that reservation is not necessary – this is not strictly true, in the sense that the renting company only has rights to designated spaces. Another family having done the same, there was a long wait before we got into our (stiflingly warm) apartment, which is not air-conditioned, and is not supplied with fans. Street outside busy, and the flat looks out over a tram depot and the railway line, so with the windows open to get some necessary air through, it is noisy. The adjacent lift shaft moans and clanks. The flat itself is competent and clean, but there are loose wires to the lamp over the bathroom cabinet, including a connector block with exposed screw heads. The combination gas boiler is incapable of providing a steady temperature to the shower. No plug in wash-hand basin. No electric kettle or toaster. Only one bedside lamp. Very good wifi, and a pleasant roof terrace; bus and tram services close at hand. Twenty minutes’ brisk walk to the town centre; a little less to the market.

Room Tip: Try to get a flat at the back. The front is noisy.

we only stayed a night. good location easy to walk to the first tram stop, friendly helpful staff, roof terrasse is a nice extra for the price excellent! the appartements are clean and reasonably equipped. No international channels on the tv it rained all the time during our visit so abit of tv for the kids would have been helpful.

The apartment is near the historic center, about a 10 minute walk to the supermarket, central market and lots of restaurant. We had a 2 bedrooms apartment, it was clean and confortable.
Prado worked at the reception for most of our stay and she was excellent, very helpful and very nice. There is also a metro station within a 10 min walk. The internet is only in the lobby but it is a nice place to hang out, there is also a nice rooftop terrasse. We would definetely stay here again, can't beat this price and quality!

There are some very mixed reviews about these apartments. We found them to be very agreeable. Pretty good value actually!

From Bilbao airport take the bus into the main square. Then walk to the Gugg and take the tram to Atxuri stop (end of the line) Then simply walk up the hill for 10 mins.

The apartments are well kitted out. ask for 401 on the top floor right by the roof terrace. There is no wifi or Air con in the apartments which is a pain these days. Burn off those pintxos (best are at Irritzdi unbelievable 4 glasses of wine and 6 pintxos for 18 euros) walking around the city. We didn't feel very safe in some of the streets of the old town at night and it made you walk fast uphill back to the apartments.

Do visit a tiny back street bar at the bottom of the hill set back from the main street and roughly behind the pharmacy.

Rest those tired thighs on the Euskotren to San Sebastian. It is 2 hours 40 mins for 5.10 Euros!! Amazing journey........

Staying here gave us a good opportunity to explore Bilbao. Slightly up the hill near the old part of Bilbao we had the perfect basis to discover the city. 'Our' apartment on the first floor was clean, comfortable and with good beds to restore the energy for the next day. The location is slightly uphill near the historic area. Facilities were good, although we missed a dishwasher, but adequate for our stay. The garage below the building had good security measurements and was spacious enough for any big car. Wifi is only available in the lobby, not in our room, although I really would have liked that. The location was in a quiet area, with hardly noise coming from outside.

Room Tip: All rooms seems to be fine

11 of us away on a 50th weekend. Stayed at the Atxuri and only paid £50 each for two nights.

The apartments are about a mile from the centre of Bilbao but closer to the old town where most of the more interesting bars are.

The apartments themselves were extremely modern, clean and spacious and far better than what you would normally find in Spain. I would thoroughly recommend these to groups, couples or families and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if back in the City.
