“Lovely spacious rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

We tried - for the first time in our lives, a spanish coach tour to Bilbao! The hotel was not disappointing in any way - except for the food!!! this hotel caters for coach trips and the food is absolutely terrible. And its like a cattle scrum to get any food - and when you get it the quality is not good. On the second morning my husband (who is a little disabled - unbalanced on his feet - was too scared to go to breakfast in case he got pushed over in the scrum!! I would have mentioned it to the manager if I had seen one, but as usual in Spain - nobody was to be seen - except ordinary employees who are so rushed off their feet they can't do anything. The dinners were terrible too - it was like the worst school dinners you ever saw in your life for the main courses. The salads were ok. The rooms were large, very clean and the bathrooms were also very spacious. This hotel was a great disappointment. Also, we counted 5 coaches in the carpark every evening during our stay--- if you are independent travellers, best to stay away - sad, but true.

Above all, very clean and helpful staff which are the two most important things. Room reasonably comfortable, could do with an armchair or similar though. Bathroom excellent but towel rack to high up for the not so tall. Foyer not bad but seating could do with a rethink, difficult to find a comfortable place to rest after all ay up and about.

We stayed overnight here recently as a change from our usual hotel near the airport , thinking it would be better placed for an evening in Bilboa . Once there the location is not bad - although it is a good ten minute walk into town . However the big problem was finding the place from the moptorway . Quite a job as the exit is not indicated in the manner the hotel pointed out when we rang them. Other than that they had got our booking wrong and our room for four which was requested was in fact only a room for three . They sorted this out eventually but I had to insist that I got what I had asked for . The facilities are fine - breakfast was actually quite good - a fair ammount of choice . However the hotel is really quite without personality - it is just an average business hotel and nothin g more really . OK for our purposes - a one night stay before a flight other than that probably not .

This is one of the nicest hotels in which I've stayed in Europe. It can be a bit difficult to find, but our gps did the job well. The hotel has a huge underground parking garage available at a reasonable price. We were given an upgraded room on the top floor. The room was huge, with a separate seating area. The bathroom was wonderful and included a separate bath and shower. The beds were very comfortable and the a/c worked great. Being on the top floor minimized any road noise. Staff were are helpful and friendly. Breakfast was included and was a buffet. It could have been presented a bit better, but it was fine and included a good variety. One can take a downhill walk to the old town area for pinxtos and drinks. You can also catch the tram there to pay a visit to the Guggenheim. The wi-fi worked great. All in all I cannot more highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: See if you can get an upgrade to one of the larger rooms.

I stayed here on a Contiki and the style of it was totally unexpected. It was an excellent stay for someone whe does not enjoy the bar scene all that much. However, the hotel bar served economical drinks and we met up there instead of going out. The weather made considering a 15 minute walk too much and the hotel bar provided a more than satisfactory solution. Breakfast in the morning was amazing and everyone was friendly and helpful.
