“AMAZING RESTAURANT - DO NOT MISS!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2012

This place was opposite our hotel (Husa Gran Espana) & we saw it was closed on the Monday so we thought it was closed down. Luckily we were still there on the Tuesday, and this place is to die for! The decor is very basic + wasn't very busy so not a perfect atmosphere, but the food and staff totally made up for that. The staff were really attentive & helpful, and made it a very nice experience. The food was out of this world. Don't worry about ordering a starter as the bread was so fresh & homemade and to die for that you won't really need one. My husband had the baby lamb - so succulent & tender & I had a tuna salad which was so amazing - tastes like you have never had before. Rice pudding was cold and like a creme caramel topping which was nice, but the chocolate brownie / baileys & orange dessert was just the best. Would definitely recommend this restaurant - miss at your peril!

“Nice modern food using local products”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2012 via mobile

Four of us went there on a Tuesday night. Restaurant wasn't too busy when we arrived but tables got full after an hour.

We shared two tapas which weren't the typical Spanish ones but we all enjoyed them.

For main two of us had the monkfish which was amazing and the other two went for the lamb. Everything was very nicely presented.

For deserts three if us went for the rice pudding. Asturias is famous for their good rice pudding and this one didn't dissapoint us at all. It was simply outstanding.

The only thing I didn't like was that my credit card was charged in pounds instead of euros without being asked. This is becoming a common bad practice in Spain. In this case the waiter didn't seem to realise this and he was apologetic when I complained so I forgive them for this small slip.

Overall we all enjoyed and will definitely come back next time I am in Oviedo.

“Excellent service, very good food”

Service was really top and guided me nicely through a variety of small bites to try and (wisely) a media ración of the main dish. Try the tarta de manzana for desert - delicious!

“Good food, great service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2012 via mobile

Very professional service and our hostess was great. You feel warmly welcomed by an experienced professional. The food was good but did not live up to the huge expectations. I liked the gyozas the least as they tasted too much like egg and not enough seafood. The other dishes were tasty! Well done.

“Cognitive dissonance, in a good way”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2012

First dinner in Asturias, was thinking about traditional foods, but didn't want the Sideria scene. This was traditional food, but not traditional preparation. Sure, there was morcilla, but it was disguised in a mousse of mushroom and egg. Every course was like that.

We came without a reservation, so we couldn't be seated in the dining room, but we had the same menu at the bar. The servers sort of drew straws on who had to deal with us, given that we didn't speak (much) Spanish, but our waiter was very friendly and helpful. BTW, I've never seen servers working this hard in a restaurant. They were pretty much running the whole time we were there, but they continued to be friendly and attentive.

This was an outstanding meal, more to be expected in Madrid (or NY, for that matter) than in a relatively small town in Asturias.

Highly recommended.
