“Great 2/3 Star Hotel in Gijon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013

Stayed here for 2 nights in Sep 13. It's a great 2/3 star hotel and good value. Older style inside as are many Independant Spanish hotels but clean and well maintained. Great location with views over looking the harbour and from here you can walk to everything in Gijon. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby. Street parking is difficult in Gijon but there is a secure underground car park just round the corner and as a hotel guest you get a discount card from reception (costs 10 euro for 24 hours). Hotel staff were helpful and spoke reasonable English. Good WIFI.

I would stay here again and happy to recommend.

Room Tip: Get a harbour view!

Perfect location, within walking distance from the old town and main shopping street. Very good beds. Good pressure on the shower. Underground car parking @10 EUR/24h. Two blocks away from a mini supermarket where the budget minded traveller can buy some fruits and groceries. Around the corner from a Burger King. Booked directly through hotel's website.

Nice little hotel, right on the marina, great views. It wasn't a fancy, designer 5 star place but it had everything we needed, a nice large room, friendly staff, perfectly good bathroom and great views. No breakfast although there was a cafeteria downstairs, which we didn't try.. Good location as a base, we walked from the station with our heavy bags in about 5 mins.

Strangely I found better value (if not nicer) accomodation in Madrid than in Gijon. The location is on the edge and therefore within walking distance of the 'old city' and near the habour though I got no view of it from my room! The city is small and all the sights are all in a compact area so everything is within walking distance.

Considering the tiny size of the room and basic facilities this hotel is a little overpriced but when I compared with other hotels in the area, they were similarly priced. TV channels in the room were all in Spanish. I do not recall there being any aircon so there was the issue of having to open the window. There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom so it fogs up quickly. Included breakfast (if you choose the included option) consists of just a piece of toast, orange juice and coffee. There is a free internet computer available for guests - that's one positive.
