We spent 2 nights in the Catalonia Zaragoza Plaza and were very happy with our stay. The hotel is located near the beautiful square on which the Basilica and other major buildings stand, as well as close to the main shopping streets. It is located on a nice little square itself. The building has been refitted recently by the look of it (although it itself is 19th century, from memory)and the rooms were clean and comfortable: the price was very low for a 4-star hotel, even taking into account the fact that it was the off-season (2nd week of January). The staff were welcoming. Breakfast was not included, however, which seems to be the rule in Spain.
It is necessary to grab a taxi from the station to central Zaragoza (including the hotel) as the new station is quite a way out as it takes the fast AVE trains. This cost us about 8 euros, and was easy to get. The bus system into town seems to leave a bit to be desired, especially if you have heavy luggage.
Zaragoza is a lovely place - good shopping, plenty of great buildings and Christmas lights well into January for the Three Kings (who are in department stores etc like triple Santas). Highly recommended.
