“Best Polpo I've had”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

One of the few places that looked decent open for lunch near the square in August. Sat outside and had a great array of fresh seafood and veg brought to the table. When the final dish arrived, 2 huge octopus tentacles, I thought there was no way I could eat it all. 10 minutes later it was gone; absolutely delicious. Worth a trip if your stuck in Zaragoza.

“Do NOT miss the croquetas!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

With so much excellent seafood on offer, a lot of people pass on the croquetas. They are simply the best I've ever had, after a lifetime of eating them. Everything else is great, too. (A great place to go for the mushrooms in late fall.) Have the pulpitos, gambas, navajas, but do NOT miss the croquetas!

“Freshly prepared food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013 via mobile

Bumped into this little find and loved it. Especially loved the deep fried stuffed-mussel shell (not sure about its name). Food was all made to order; you wouldn't even find microwave reheated croquette, which is very common in many places. It's a little more expensive (just a little;) - but it's also a different quality.

Very kind staff.

“Great food & Outstanding Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

We pulled into Zaragoza on a Sunday -- when most restaurants are closed. We were resigned to eating in a hotel restaurant when we happened on the Taberna. It was "only" 9:30 but the place was quite crowded. We grabbed a table for two and struggled with the Spanish menu. They provided a multi-lingual summary which helped quite a bit. We started with a mixed salad and the octopus de la gallega (I think). We washed that down with a bottle of Cava (good & cheap), Then we tried the lamb and the "Iberian Surprise" (pork). Very tasty. We went for some cheese to finish off the red wine (Gran Vos reserva - which was excellent).

Service was very attentive and patient. They took a great deal of care in the timing of the dishes. (We tend to eat slowly.) This place is definitely worth a visit.

“nice food and location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

a little expensive but they do have quite a variety of tapas to try and the location is great, in the old part of Zaragoza; in a little plaza with just the right lighting and ambience. We have been there several times, while on different trips to this city. Definitely, will recommend.
