“Private Gem at Top of Hill”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014

My family (2 adults and 2 young children) spend a weekend in Seville on the recommendation of professional associates of my wife and they recommended Casa del Poeta (friend of a friend is owner and got us a special deal).

First, we arrived a day earlier than they originally expected and did not have a room for us but set us up in a private apartment nearby. The apartment was wonderful, looked like we might have been the first one's to stay there, but if you are offered that option, do it, the only negative were two flights of stairs, otherwise, the rooms, decor, facilities, location, all great. The flexibility, responsiveness and service by the team in arranging for this option, airport taxi pick up, meeting taxi (as we had to walk a block or two down streets to narrow for vehicles), etc. were all outstanding.

Second, we moved from the private apartment to the Hotel del Poeta second day. The rooms are lovely, the courtyard, entry way and other spaces are comfortable and artistically adorned with wonderful sculptures..The breakfast was very nice, it would have been nice to make it a buffet to give us more flexibility and the first morning we didn't even realize ordering eggs was an option. I might recommend to hotel that they keep breakfast set up in the inner room, the waiters spend much of the AM setting up and breaking down the service, when they could spend more time servicing guests if the set up where more permanent. Also, seems they could have done a better job with what appeared like a wine tasting room in setting up and promoting a wine tasting and small tapas.

The LOCATION is ideal. I felt like we were at the top of the hill and just keep heading up and you will find your home. Also very close to main touristic areas and plenty of great places to eat. Overall, a wonderful escape and highly recommended for couples, which is mostly who we saw, although we did see a wedding party and my daughter enjoyed all the attention lavished on the bride as she was photographed through this picturesque location. Go and enjoy.

Room Tip: Room 27, had a wonderful balcony

The hotel is in a great location, very close to the Cathedral and 7€ from the renfe train station. You have restaurants, shops and flamenco shows 1 or 2 minutes away from the hotel. The room was clean and trendy. All the employees were helpful and friendly. Maybe a bit pricey, but the beds were very comfortable.

All of the photos on the website do justice to the hotel. It is beautifully done and the fittings and fabric are of a very high quality. It is certainly worth having breakfast in the hotel. It's well done and leisurely, We had a very enjoyable three nights at the hotel and would recommend it without hesitation.

Room Tip: Room 1 is on the ground floor. During the day, there is probably a little noise disturbance as peop...

Stayed there two nights in June. The staff found us where we were, directed us where to drive, then got our car parked in a safe place and helped us move in. They were super friendly throughout, making us feel right at home in this beautiful old city. We were close to all the sights, neighborhood ambiance, and cultural happenings. We would go back in a minute, and stay longer if we could.

If you are looking to stay in Seville then look no further, from the moment that my girlfriend and I arrived we were blown away by the city, hotel and especially the staff. The owner was incredible. He met us when we were lost and parked my car for me. We were recommended to his restaurant and were treated very well. The free walking tour is a must. We had Danielo, a great way to see the city.

We stayed for two nights in this boutique luxury hotel on July 1 and 2. As other reviewers have mentioned, the hotel is very difficult to find, owing to the many twists and turns of the Santa Cruz neighborhood, but this is easily overcome by following the instructions sent by the hotel via email prior to your stay. The hotel is a five minute walk to the Seville Cathedral and even closer to a very nice dining/bar area on Calle Mateos Gago. We arrived by train and took a cab to the hotel which took about 15 minutes. As I mentioned, the hotel sent us an email with instructions to call them before arrival and they would meet us at a nearby square. This was unnecessary in our case as our taxi driver dropped us off very close (less than 1km away) and gave us walking instructions to the hotel entrance as cars are not allowed in the Santa Cruz neighborhood.

The hotel itself is non-descript from the outside, but immediately upon crossing the foyer, you're immersed within a rich and romantic Mediterranean environment that is small enough to make you believe that you're a guest at a friend's hacienda. We were greeted by the hotel staff who spoke just enough English to recommend places to eat and areas of interest to visit. Our room was very large and delicately decorated with a very nice private terrace where we could enjoy glasses of rioja in the evening.

Breakfast in the morning is continental and is served in the open-sky courtyard. The coffee is excellent and the atmosphere very tranquil. I don't know how else to say it. This hotel's reputation is extremely well-justified. If you want a romantic, quiet, and boutique experience in the historic center of Seville, there's just no better place. If on the other hand you're used to staying at larger hotels with a variety of service offerings like in-house bars and room service, you'd probably prefer something else. Not sure why you'd want that in Seville though. The draw of this city is it's charm and walkability. Casa del Poeta was perfect for us.

By the way, our trip to Spain included stays in Barcelona, Madrid, Seville, and Granada. Casa del Poeta was not only our favorite hotel during the trip, but also the cheapest by a long shot...

We stayed at this relatively new hotel in Seville, Spain for three nights. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised by the simple beauty of this hotel. The staff were incredibly accommodating to our requests. They were full of wonderful suggestions for restaurants and places to get tapas. They even found us a guide who made the Sevilla Cathedral, Giralda and Real Alcazar come to life with his stories and in depth knowledge about these amazing sites.
The morning breakfast in the courtyard was very good too. Strong wonderful coffee, yogurt, pastries and fresh fruit served by an attentive staff.
The location was also ideal to seeing the sites and going to eat by foot. Finding it was a bit tricky however so make sure you are able to call once you arrive in the area.
I would highly recommend this hotel.
