“PATHETIC STAFF. DO NOT STAY HERE!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

We had two separate bookings for consecutive nights (ie. different rooms) they insisted we pay for BOTH bookings and made us leave to get cash out instead of allowing us to pay for the second booking on the following day. Bad sign!! We reached our room and couldn't even open the door the whole way because the bed was in the way. We had to slam the door open and closed because the door was buckled.

The towels were not in the room and I had to repeatedly had to ask for them for it. Staff are indifferent and will tell you they will do something for you but you end up having to chase them for it or doing it yourself. While serving us they would continually stop and do something else. The shared bathroom was completely drenched from the rain and dirty.

The bed had stray hairs in it and I am dubious as to whether or not the sheets had been changed.

Walls are thin and you might as well be sleeping with strangers; you can hear everything!

WORST PLACE I HAVE STAYED IN. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!

The hostel is in a convenient place, though hard to find. The rooms are small, but adequate, and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful with directions, and are available 24 hrs. The breakfast area is very small; it's much easier to grab a bite in one of the many places to eat nearby.

Rooms were average, location perfect. Breakfast was forgettable but great places to have coffee close by. Expensive compared to hostels in other places. But hard to beat the friendliness of the staff and 24 hour desk.

Room Tip: Top floor the quietest.

Really helpful staff make up for so many other things. We really liked the staff here, they all spoke English (and many other languages). The room we were in was small and the air conditioning was noisy. However, the location was excellent, only minutes from Alcazar and the Jewish quarter. During our stay I had a medical problem and Diane the receptionist was really helpful, she came with me to the doctors surgery and to the pharmacy to translate for me, she couldn't have been more helpful. There is a roof top terrace to relax with a glass of wine also. We liked it!

Room Tip: I would ask for an external window next time.

We booked for this hotel and carefully selected it for its atmosphere and facilities as well as location. We paid in advance -as was insisted on - via booking.com, we even had further emails with the hotel confirming the booking and arrival arrangements. When we got there at 11 am on the day, we were told there had been a double booking and we had to go their 'siste' hotel nearby - this was a definitely lower level hotel. This seems a common scam from this company so do beware if booking this hotel - you may never get to stay there. We did report them to the locality, but don't expect anything to come of it.

I was traveling alone, and wanted a location within walking distance of the Cathedral and the Alcazar, etc. This was a good location.
They put me in a room next to the front desk where I could hear the receptionist clicking on the computer, the phone ringing, the man snoring in the room next to mine. It was horrible!
I also made a mistake when booking, and they charged me for two rooms for two nights. I thought this was unfair. I can see charging me double for one night, but they tore up my documentation before I could research the problem.

The staff, particularly Diana (day shift), was very helpful. Great location, modest breakfast but free coffee and apples all day -- nice touch! It was also a luxury to have access to a free, fast computer. Room was clean (no view) but had AC and the bed was comfortable.

I was disappointed that the "free shuttle service" was only free from the airport/railway station to the hostel/pension, and that the last shuttle was at 6:00 p.m.
