Like any hotel, this one had its pros and cons, so I'll start with the good stuff.
PROS: You can't beat the location. The Dona Manuela is a few minutes' walk from everything worth seeing in the historic/Santa Cruz area. The price we got was awesome, too. The staff was extremely friendly, and although we speak Spanish, we overheard all the staff we saw speak English to other Americans. The room itself was very clean, and we had toiletry samples in our bathroom for our use. We came back to the room every day for siesta, and it was nice to have the flat panel TV with satellite cable. The hotel is also surrounded by many cafes, and we enjoyed cafe con leche at the Casa Modesto next door every morning.
CONS: Unfortunately, it took me two nights to figure this out, but you need a good set of earplugs to sleep through the night here...I still can't believe more people haven't put this in their reviews. The noise isn't from the street, but inside the hotel. You will hear absolutely every door in the hotel close (or slam, as it were). We asked why, and it's because all the room doors are fire doors, meaning there's a layer of steel in each door, so they're very heavy. Also, the plumbing for the toilets make them sound like airplane toilets when they flush, and you can hear the flushing of the toilets in the rooms on either side. Oddly enough, we never heard voices or conversations or TVs from our neighbors, so the walls aren't THAT thin, but please be warned about the doors and toilets! After I started wearing earplugs to sleep, I didn't hear a thing. Finally, if you like a hard bed, this is the place for you...I had a tough time getting comfortable every night, and while my husband and I had a double bed, we only had one long pillow for the both of us to share.
OVERALL: I think we got what we paid for, considering we paid less than 100 euros per night to stay right in the middle of the most popular tourist area in Sevilla. But, I think I would pay more to stay in a place that was quieter with more comfortable beds.
