Hotel Ibis is a chain of standardized hotels in Europe, owned by Accor Hotels. It's essentially like Motel 6 in the USA (also owned by Accor) -- similarly generic, small, clean and comfortable rooms but Ibis has a slightly European panache in terms of color scheme and bathroom design and more inviting lobbies and restaurants. All-in-all, a very nice place to stay, especially if you want predictable and affordable lodging in Europe. The staff is very helpful and these hotels are always located conveniently next to highways and within walking distance of brand-name markets such as Carrefour (sort of like the USA's Target or a very nice Wal-Mart). Hotels also offer free parking which is great in Europe!
We stayed at both the Malaga and Sevilla Hotel Ibis locations. Hotels were virtually identical in layout/location/staffing and were very simple but pleasant and quiet.
Hotel Ibis Sevilla was excellently located outside the bustle of Sevilla and right next to a bus-stop that goes right into the heart of the city in about 10 minutes. I heartily recommend NOT driving in Sevilla -- park at Ibis and ride the bus in!
Our only specific advice is twofold: 1) Book the rooms in advance and reserve them with a credit-card if you think you are going to be late in arriving. We booked a room in Sevilla from their Jerez location and the contract stipulated that we had to arrive at 7 p.m. or the reservation would be voided. We arrived at 9 p.m. (see reason in #2!) and the desk-clerk gave us a bit of a hard time. Fortunately a room was available but it was a nail-biting minute or two as two weary travellers desperate for sleep had a minor show-down with the clerk . . .
2) The driving directions/maps provided by Accor Hotels online and in their printed guides (for both Hotel Ibis and ETAP Hotels) are terrible! Do not rely on them to find your hotels -- get detailed maps of the cities you're going to visit beforehand, plot out where your hotel is and then devise a strategy for getting there. We unfortunately relied on the provided maps and we literally drove around Sevilla for 2 hours trying to find the place. Driving in Sevilla is stressful anytime but hell if you are unfamiliar with the city and tired. This is the sort of thing that ruins vacations and marriages so get a good map! If things get really bad, hire a taxi to lead you to your hotel -- it's worth the 10 euro or whatever for the time/stress it will save you.
