We chose the Silken Hotel because it’s location offered parking on local streets without charge although one can use the hotel’s parking facilities. It’s located about 3 kms from the Plaza de Espana, a very nice 20 min, leisurely walk. The area is quiet which makes for a pleasant stay.

We reserved a junior suite with a balcony and had access to the “Silken Club” room for afternoon or evening amenities. For us, it was unlimited coffee and a quiet area to use the internet; the foods were out most of the day and were rather stale. Our room had ample space and a comfortable bed. However, the room, as well as the hotel in general, was very run down. The carpeting and couches were worn and appeared dirty. There was layer of dust on the furniture in our room meaning the room wasn’t used and cleaned for awhile. The television was an older version; no flat screen HD or wi-fi in the rooms. The staff took care of the dust in the room rapidly and placed sheets over our couches so we can enjoy the sitting room. The bathroom tile needed a good cleaning as dirt accumulated in the grout lines.

The hotel is a large and impressive sight which caters to business people, banquets, and conferences. It is a busy place. The hotel registration staff were courteous and helpful, but at times seemed disinterested. Our checkin went smoothly, but we noticed later as others arrived and the queue began to form, it appeared chaotic at the registration desk. The hotel offers free wi-fi in their expansive lobby area.

Their buffet breakfast costs either 15 or 18 Euros per day depending on where you get your information. It’s expensive, but the staff offered us a 10 Euro “deal” upon check-in which we took. I think this is a standard offer made to everyone upon checkin. The breakfast was a highlight of the hotel. It was enormous with plenty of variety to satisfy anyone. Take advantage of it if you stay here - it's well worth the 10 Euros. We also ate in their restaurant one evening taking advantage of a buffet dinner. (It was raining so we decided not to go out.) The buffet dinner is not worth the cost - it's expensive and the food was, at best, adequate.

There are nearby bus stops and a taxi stand outside the hotel for local with inexpensive transportation to any part of the city. We used the #34 bus to travel downtown and the taxi for our trip to the train station and the airport.

Word of advice: If you stay here, walk around the neighborhood. It's very pleasant and we discovered a number of local restaurants and other eateries. Unfortunately, we discovered them on the day we were leaving town and it was too late for us to try. There's also a pizza place across Paseo de la Palmera, the main street by the hotel, with wonderful pizzas.

All in all, it is a good hotel with good rates especially if you compare to hotel rates closer to town center. However, the hotel looks tired and desperately needs an upgrade.

We have stayed at the Al Andalus five times now, as a couple and as a family. The hotel is clean, wel appointed, and spacious. The bar prices are competitive and service is first class. The pool is wonderful, large, clean, with lots of sitting space around it. The buffet breakfast is absolutely wonderful, one of the best we have ever had at home or abroad. We find the bus jounrey into the centre of Seville a little tiring, as we usually miss a bus and have to wait, which makes the overall journey about twenty to thirty minutes each way, but if there are four of you a taxi is the same price and only takes five minutes. We will stay again. When we do I hope that we will see evidence of ongoing redecoration as there are many areas which are not becoming shabby. Contrary to other reports, we have found reception staff extremely courteous and helpful.

Great hotel as a base for exploring Seville. The hotel is on the outskirts of the city but there is a bus that goes into the city every 15 mins or so. I'm sure that it would be possible to walk into the city but it was so hot when we were there we did not attempt it.
Good pool when you need a break from sightseeing. Lovely little local cafe a short walk up the road to the local supermarket.
The staff were really helpful in the hotel.

Room Tip: Our room overlooked the local football stadium which wasn't a problem but it would have been rea...

Booked two rooms for a party of two adults and four children, with two in their teens. The rooms were large, and conveniently located on the third floor. One of the rooms was clearly designated for use by smokers, so had a very unpleasant odour, which didn't clear during the stay. I understand that the hotel was last refurbished in 2006, so 6 years of use clearly show up with areas of threadbare carpets in the rooms, and missing casement stays on the opening windows. The pool was closed down for the season, so the youngest two members of the party were solely disappointed at this, although access to the pool area was not barred; made it all the worse! The restaurant wasn't too busy in the evening (a Monday), even so, standing for a table took nearly 10 minutes, with the waiting staff appearing to ignore you. Be warned, the portions on the main course are small: we all couldn't help laughing when they arrived at the table.....on a slate. The quality of the food was very good however. There is the also option of a self service buffet in one of the other restaurants. Car parking in the hotel is quite expensive, so we parked outside in the street. On the whole, the hotel was clean and tidy, with polite reception staff, and represents good value for money for an October break, and would use it again, despite the minor shortcomings.

Room Tip: For non-smokers, be sure to request a non-smoking room.

This is very large hotel situated on the south side of the city. We stayed here for six nights, everything went smoothly from check in to check out. We booked with travel republic which offered the best rate at the time for room and breakfast. Breakfast was superb with a fantastic choice, you won't go away hungry! The rooms are large and well laid out with built in safe, the maids do a good job cleaning the rooms everyday. The hotel has three restaurants, from a cafe to a la carte dinning, you should find one to suit your pocket. Don't let the location of this hotel put you off, in fact I looked upon it as a bonus. It is in a nice quiet residential area with frequent bus(no34) to city centre, we never have to wait more than 10 minutes for one. If you prefer, there are always taxis waiting outside. There are some wear and tear here and there but it is hard to bit for value, service, helpful and friendly staff. The added bonus of a lovely outdoor pool and gardens must be a huge draw in the summer.

Room Tip: We were on the second floor with a room just to the right of the front entrance of the hotel, it was...

Planning our trip to Seville revealed a choice between two types of accommodation - small boutique in the centre or larger hotel in the suburbs with pool facilities. We opted for the Al-Andalus basing our choice on the weather still being quite hot in mid October and hoping for a cool down in the pool after a day sight-seeing. Unfortunately, when we checked in we were told that the pool was closing down for the end of the season the day after we arrived (mid October and temperatures still at 23C)! Other than that, the hotel is perfectly fine for a trip to Seville and although outside the city you can easily travel in and out by bus which stops just around the corner. City centre fares are set at 1.30 Euro so it's not expensive at all. Be wary of eating in the restaurant - as with a lot of these rather large mainly business focused hotels, meals are small are on portions but very expensive given the choice available in the city centre. Sampling the tapas bars in the Cathedral area is notoriously expensive - the Santa Cruz area has much more variety and is far more inviting. Seville itself is delightful - we were enchanted by the architecture and it's a perfect city to drift around. Just next time we will probably vote for the boutique option!

Room Tip: If you take a late booking you will probably get a room on the far end of the hotel which is near th...
