“A real five star”

Service it's what really distinguish an extraordinary hotel than a real good one, the Alfonso XIII deliver a perfect service from the moment you cross the door until the last farawell. Atention to detail, exelent food, well prepare staff. A real five star.

We recently ate at the restaurant in this hotel. Hotel is well situated and looks the part and claims to be 'iconic'. Customer service from various members of staff was well below what would be expected from a hotel of this so called quality.

We visited at lunchtime to look at the menu and see the dining room for a booking the next evening, to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary .It was beautifully decked out with lovely covered chairs. We made a booking for 8pm , asked the dress code, explained we were non residents and the female member of staff took our cell phone contact details.

We arrived the next evening at 7.45pm. The restaurant at the far end of the terrace where we had been the previous day was not open yet so we sat to the right of the patio/terrace for a pre dinner drink, and there we sat..... members of staff all avoiding eye contact. 15 minutes later a male suited member of staff walked by and acknowledged us. I asked if any members of staff were serving this area. He said he would,- took our order and radioed it through. A while later a female arrived with our drinks. She placed the glasses on the table poured the gin, tonic, placed a plate of nuts on the table and the bill all without uttering a single word or a smile.

We checked on the restaurant again which was still closed.

At 8.15pm I approached the desk on the opposite side of the patio, next to the piano player and waited. Two male members of staff carefully avoided eye contact yet again . Eventually another male suited man came to the desk. I explained that we had a booking for 8pm and were a little concerned that the restaurant was not open yet. 'Ah that's only open for breakfast and lunch' he says,' this is the restaurant for the evening'. It appeared to be one side of the covered terrace. I explained that this was not mentioned to us when we booked and the member of staff also knew we were non residents. Also we had stepped inside the 'other' restaurant the previous day to look at it.. We had now been waiting a total of 30mins.

He acknowledges our booking and shows us to a table. He gives us one menu and no wine list, a while later he returns with the second menu and still no wine list. We chose our meal and the same gentleman then asks us for our room number. Yes the same man who I had told we were non residents. I tell him again we are not staying at the hotel and he says ' So tonight this will be your home..... how nauseating!.

Eventually Gregory the wine waiter turns up with a wine list some 15 minutes after we had ordered our food..

The meal is fine, not good not bad, just fine. Getting the attention of anyone was extremely difficult, they may have all looked the part in their fancy white jackets and gold braiding but in reality it was all show.

We paid the bill and as we walked to the front entrance not one member of staff acknowledged our leaving. I wanted to return to the table and take the cash gratuity , but that would have made me as bad as they were and quite honestly my manners are better than that.

The only redeeming part of the evening was the pianist. Unbeknown to me, as my husband visited the rest room, he arranged for him to play the music we walked down the aisle to 30 years ago.. We both acknowledged his performance and when he left for the evening he came over to speak with us and give us his card. His manners were impeccable and he certainly knows how to treat customers.

Sorry for the long review, but this is exactly how the evening happened and far from being an enjoyable anniversary meal, I was wondering if we would make 31 years as we were both so stressed! Too many people did not do their job properly and they didn't listen to the customer.

You may get lucky and get good customer service but don't count on it.

Stayed here for a 4-day City Break. On arrival the room was not ready as the previous occupier had a late check-out, which we were not informed about. The Hotel Management were very apologetic and gave us complimentary lunch with a drink on the Terrace bar. They promised the room would be ready by 4.30pm and it was. Did not eat at the hotel, so could not comment on the food but the hotel has a lovely history to it and staff are very helpful. Previous contributors have passed comment on the Wi-Fi. I had free 'basic' Wi-Fi in the room/hotel and this was more than I needed for me to work etc. IPAD and SURFACE connections to a VPN were not a problem. Did not have time for the Spa but the pool was a perfect place to relax by (having a beer) after a day exploring the City

Room Tip: Room 139 is a beautiful room, very spacious and incredibly comfortable

My wife and I spent 3 nights at this elegant and classy hotel in mid April and we enjoyed our stay immensely. The check-in was one of the best we have experienced with the receptionist taking time to ensure that we were aware of what was available in Seville and also in the hotel. Our room was clean and spacious with very nice fixtures and fittings. Meals were very good and the breakfast buffet one of the best I have come across - well done hotel Alfonso Xiii! We loved Seville and will be back. One thing that could be improved, one of the servers at breakfast had a habit of ignoring us when we tried to attract her attention and then when we persisted, said 'in a minute', which is not particularly polite or professional. A small glitch though in an otherwise memorable stay.

This is a beautiful hotel perfectly situated within walking distance of just about everything!
The pool area in back is a great retreat at the end of a day of sightseeing and an ideal spot to take a typical Sevilla siesta before dinner.
Breakfast is served in a gorgeous courtyard and the buffet is a great value.
We were treated like royalty from the moment we checked in and we would not think of staying anywhere else on our next trip to Seville!

Decided to have a meal at the hotel. We were seated and given menus but no wine list. finally got one to order some good sherry as an aperitif but the waiter brought the bottle and poured the very end of the bottle that did not even give a half glass. No apology nothing just there you go.
Food ok but service and Gerald attitude not in keeping
