“Last years faults have been fixed - now it is perfect.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

I stayed here May 2012 just after it re-opened after renovation and whist the rooms were great the service was seriously lacking.

I stayed again this August for 3 nights (2013) and all of the service issues have been resolved making everything about this place excellent. Personally greeted by the manager, welcomed back, the most amazing room.

Breakfast was high quality and efficiently served even though they were busy. Many hotels do not bother to refill the buffet 20 minutes from closing time but that was not an issue here. 5 minutes to closing it looked like it had just opened up - this is what you expect in a 5* hotel but often do not get. Breakfast was served in the outdoor courtyard making it particularly enjoyable.

As an spg plat the internet was free but I can understand gripes at paying so much for it - which brings me to my few gripes about the hotel. For me tea/coffee making in the room is a must as is an iron/ironing board.
They will gladly fetch you tea/coffee (in 10-15 minutes - a bit improvement on the 45 minutes last year) but they charge you between Euro 8-12 (it varied for no apparant reason) and they would gladly iron anything you ask this is not free either.
When you pay a lot for the room it annoys me that you then get charged for extras that come free in less expensive hotels.
However, if you need to quible about a few euros here and there then go to the Holiday Inn Express. This is hotel where you forget real life and indulge yourself.

The GYM was disspointing - they have the space for decent equipment but have not really grasped what a 5* hotel gym should be about. SWIMMING pool was great - plenty of towels etc.

I canot wait to get back to this place again

We stayed at the Alfonso in Seville in the heat of July and loved it. After a day of playing tourist we would retreat to the pool at 4-5PM, which was always as crisp as the poolside service, including fresh towels laid out on chairs, excellent drinks, ice cream and snack menu. Luxury for a price, and well worth it.

Overall, our room, the concierge and room service, hotel location, and breakfast buffet were all excellent. Stylistically the hotel is grandly opulent, which, taken all together, we found a nice break from the separate but equal charms of a more "authentic" boutique hotel with it's many fewer amenities.

Currently enjoying a seven night stay in this hotel. The location is fabulous, close to many attractions, walkable to the shopping area, but also a tram outside. The staff have all been fantastic, and the people in the American bar can make some awesome cocktails (at some reasonable prices for a 5*), a must try if you enjoy such things. The real draw of the hotel has to be that it is so beautifully appointed, it really is a very good looking hotel, both inside and out. Feels like a Moorish palace. A great experience to be had.

Stayed here on a Tauck Tour of Spain & Portugal. Built in 1992 for the World Expo and recently "refreshed" this Starwoods Luxury Hotel Property retained its original splendor while coming up to 2013 conveniences and comfort. It is 5 stars and more.

This hotel is one of the nicest we have ever stayed in. The property is simply stunning and the pool area perfect for hot summer afternoons. The rooms were impeccably decorated and the common areas also. Service was good - perhaps a bit inconsistent.

The only place in the hotel where free wifi is available is in the reception otherwise it costs €18 per day. Considering that in this day and age almost everyone wants wifi in their room - why do hotels still charge so much for something that costs them very little?

We recently stayed at the Alfonso XIII in Seville. It exceeded our expectations with extremely helpful staff, beautiful public areas, delicious food and drink and a fantastic pool. The hotel is situated close to the Cathedral and Alcazar. The concierge helped us find a fantastic private guide who took us on a tour of the Alcazar and Cathedral. We also enjoyed dinner in the inner courtyard and some great drinks in the American Bar and the Outdoor Patio. The mojitos were especially nice. We wish we had stayed longer. We were a family of four and had 2 lovely connecting rooms. The boys enjoyed the pool and fitness room. We stayed in 4 hotels during our trip to Spain and this was everyone's favorite by far.
