Owner description: Construction of this palace began in 1492. Today, part of the palace is a museum and is open to the public. There is a separate wing where the present Duchess of Medinaceli lives with her descendants and family. The palace has many gardens, patios, fountains, and salons. The patios contain many Roman statues. Everywhere on the first floor one will find Roman mosaic floors. The walls are covered with beautiful ceramic tile in many different Mudejar styles.

“Interesting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2014

Interesting courtyards and the visit upstairs (with a guide as it is still someone's home) was worth it. An audio guide is included in the price for the ground floor and courtyards, a bit long winded in places but good to give you some idea of the history of the house.

“Worth a look”

Still in use as a private home to some duchess or other.
6 euro in but pay the extra 2 and get a tour of the upstairs.

“Lovely Palace”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2014

Pilatos never slept here, but if he had, he'd have never left. This has to be one of the nicest house museums i've seen in a while. The stairs are glorious tile, the patio is classical and filled with wonderful Italian sculpture, but my favorite room was the gold room with the lovely Roman reliefs. DO go upstairs! it's only 8 euro for both floors. I firmly believe in seeing as much of any place as possible, you'll regret saying no if you find out it's fabulous and if it's not, nothing much is lost. Our guide was charming and while the house is still occupied by the family, the rooms have a museum-ish feel to them, a little tea with Mussolini, like palace sealed in amber. The gardens are gorgeous. This is OLD money!

Beautiful private house now a museum with nice gardens. Interesting courtyards. I did not visit the upper floor as it cost extra! Well worth a visit with audio guide

“Beautiful azulejos”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2014

Casa de Pilatos, was the Palace of adelantados and later on the ducal house of Medinaceli in Sevilla.. It ia a mgnificent palace built originally in the XV Century. It houses the most beautiful azulejo stairs I have ever seen among stunning patios. One of the best attractions in Sevilla it ia a pleasure to visit.
