Owner description: Construction of this palace began in 1492. Today, part of the palace is a museum and is open to the public. There is a separate wing where the present Duchess of Medinaceli lives with her descendants and family. The palace has many gardens, patios, fountains, and salons. The patios contain many Roman statues. Everywhere on the first floor one will find Roman mosaic floors. The walls are covered with beautiful ceramic tile in many different Mudejar styles.

“Don't get the audio guide”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

We went there when there was free entrance, did just the lower floor and “only” had to pay for the audio guides which at 4 € each was definitely overpriced, compared to other audio guides and considering the content, which was rather boring.

The house itself was "nice", especially the courtyard, and I would recommend a visit.

“the house of an Inquisitor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

We learned from the very professional friendly guide that this was the rich house of a rich Inquisitor, so it is a very educational visit to see what kind of money the witch burning activity can make you :). Very beatiful tiled entrance, beautiful courtyard and salons. The convent of San Leandro is nearby, so you might want to take the opportunity to purchase some cakes through the Lazy Suzan, quite an experience.

“Not Impressed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012

I wanted very much to see this place, since on my first visit on Seville I had missed it. I have finally managed to see it on my second visit. I do not know if it was because of my high expectations, but this place did not impress me at all. The building is well preserved but rather small. It has beautiful tiles. The audio-guide is very boring and offers more information than needed. Overall, it is ok to take a look if you have plenty of time to spent in Seville, but definitely is not a must.

“A Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

The small palace was calm, cool and beautiful architecture. The central courtyard was a pleasure to sit in after the bustle of the city.

“Worth finding.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

You have to pay more to go upstairs, and worth it if you like to know the history. Lovely surprises round all the corners. Don't miss it, it is off the beaten tourist track but worth the find.
