“Interesting but a little dissappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

We visited in September so didnt expect much water in the marshes....there was none so no waterbirds at all. We did see red deer, fallow deer, a fox and a lot of birds of prey but these were in the main a long way off and you certaily needed the binoculars they issue.
We were not in one of the large vehicles shown but in a smaller van with windows that did not open so much of what we saw was through dusty, closed windows.
The guide did speak english but struggled to engage us and was often speaking/thinking to himself or speaking to the people sat up front with him with his microphone turned on so context was lost and we were often confused.

“The Sahara in spain”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

That one of the best kept secret, a sahara in the middle of Spain, amazing sand dunes. One of the most wild and best beach, pine tree forest, swamp and passionate guides to show you around if you take on of the 4 hours official 4W bus tour given from the information centers.

“el rocio”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2012

we stayed at the donana rural casa in el rocio (www.donana-rural.com) which was really good very clean and good kitchen in a quiet part of town. From here you can access really nice walks ont the moguer trail which starts on the same street just turn left from the hotel and walk over a new road being built. This runs alongside the park with farmland on the otherside. There is another nice walk from the other side of town walk allong to the the water front to the spainish birding hide/center and follow the sandy trail out of town and turn right at the bridge.
A really nice restaurant is called aves de donana which serves excellent food and great views over the marshes in the evening.
We also took a birding tour with donana bird tours with peter warham. We had booked a tour which was decribed as "The Tour is tailor made for the 2 of you only " for 150 euros plus 20 euros to start the tour in el rocio. However on the day we were told there would be 4 of us, we were ok with this but presumed the cost would be reduced and we would half the 20 euros transport cost. At the end of the tour we were still charged the FULL cost of the tour and the Full transport cost. Being photographers, sitting in the middle of the back seat is not a great place to be. Peters bird knowledge is good and he is an amiable guide you should be ok as long as you check you are getting what you paid for before hand...
on a lighter note there is much bird life to be seen from the town itself as there is a promenade running along the marsh, we had no car and stayed for a week and walked every where.

Nice place for walk for nature lovers. There are mostly birds but the surrounding is very interesting and quite.
