“Peaceful getaway in beautiful Andalucian village”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013 for a stay in June 2013

We really enjoyed our stay in Corteconcepcion - a really friendly village in a stunning area of Spain. Our hosts made us feel very welcome and were always available to answer questions about the local area, recommendations for walks, day trips, restaurants and so on - this was invaluable in a pretty untouristy area where you won't find English menus etc.

The accommodation itself is set back from the host's farm house. It's very comfortable and stays cool in the heat. Well equipped kitchen including eggs straight from the farm, home made bread, wine etc. I've not always had the best bathrooms in Spain but the bathroom here is lovely - hot powerful shower and full size towels!

The front door leads straight into the village (a good selection of bars/restaurants) and the side door onto a private patio.

This is an ideal getaway if you'd like to experience 'real' Spain, get away from main tourist sites/crowds and see some stunning and varied countryside (on foot or in the car).

“Highly recommended to those who want real Spain”

Where do I start?

The location is up in the hills, far from the madding crowds! Beautiful treks, tasty, well priced food, local hospitality, villages and towns serving beer and coffee for a euro!!!

The house is kept beautifully, new furniture, clean and wonderfully cool despite the heat outside ( also heaters and fires for a cozy winter feel too).

Fran and mike manage the property as if it's their baby. Visitors are made to feel really special and there isn't enough these fun, genuine and knowledgeable hosts won't do to ensure your stay is wonderful, whatever your objective of going may be. We had a barbecue in their garden, eating the best pork I have ever tasted, a golf putting competition in the garden, endless beers in the garden... A lot in the garden it seems! If you want to be independent that is catered for, if you want local ideas and input that is catered for also.

I took my year old and all baby stuff was provided and Fran took my daughter to feed the sheep and chickens etc and made sure she had a memorable time.

“so many wonderful memories”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013 for a stay in April 2013

Fran and Mike are wonderful hosts who share their love of a beautiful place to make their guests welcome and well cared for as well as providing a wealth of information about walks and great places to visit. Fresh eggs, garden veggies, introductions to local people and answers for our questions about the area made this one of our best ever holidays.
We would be happy to return again and highly recommend them. The space was clean, comfortable and the location so convenient for walks.

We loved this sweet holiday cottage in the beautiful Sierra de Aracena. Fran and Mike are great hosts (I'm sure this has been said before!), the cottage is comfortable and full of character, and the area is really special as well. A winning combination.

“Enjoyable holiday made special by the hosts Mike and Fran”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2012 for a stay in June 2012

Ideal location for us, through front door directly into the village. Through the back door into the farm of the hosts. Private if you want but handy to contact the owners if you need anything. The owners did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. Our pet dogs loved them and the location.
As far as we are concerned we made two new friends and will definately visit again in the future.
The accomodation is spacious and comfortable. There is plenty to do in the area and Mikle & Fran gave top advice about where to go. Seville is easily reached by car and a worthwhile visit.
We have already recommended this to our friends.

Liked best: The owners
Liked least: The wifi can only be accessed from outside the owners property, which the owners were happy for you to do at any time so this did not detract for us but worth bearing in mind if internet access is very important to you

“Ideal for walking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2011 for a stay in November 2011

Calle Evaristo Perez, 12, Corteconcepcion, 21209
The accommodation is very clean, well thought out and had just about everything we needed. Our hosts, Fran & Mike did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable & successful including introducing us to several of the local bars/restaurants and telling us what to expect from them. We have stayed in several villages in Andalucia and Corteconcepcion is one of the friendliest. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and if you want a walking holiday we can’t think of a better place. The local town of Aracena is interesting, with a church & castle on the hill and miles of amazing ‘Grutas’ (grottoes) underneath. It also has some excellent places to eat in if you fancy a change from the numerous bars in Corteconcepcion. Seville is not far away and well worth a visit. All in all we had a fabulous holiday, and don’t understand why more people don’t go to southern Spain in late autumn when it’s comfortably warm during the day. November is apparently the wettest month in the Sierra de Aracena but in three weeks we had only 3 days when it rained so we used those as rest days. Apart from that the weather was just perfect for walking. Highly recommended.

“Real Spain - with comfort good food & good company”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2011 for a stay in August 2011

One assumes that if you are looking for accommodation in this area of Spain that you have done your homework. If you are looking for somewhere with nightclubs, discos, karaoke bars and fast food joints serving pie & chips read no further. If however you want a comfortable studio with all mod cons (wifi is available but you will have to take your laptop near to the owners house due to the thickness of the walls) in a small white village that will make you very welcome then this may suit you. The house itself has everything in it that you need for everyday living as can be seen by the pictures on their website. If however you dont want to cook then any one of six bars in the village provide excellent food from tapa to full meals (remember the Spanish eat late so no problem getting a meal at night).. Mike & Fran the owners are always on hand should you have a problem or want any advice on the local area, they will also provide excellent food & even teach you some Spanish if you want to learn - again see the website. The local area has plenty of walks where you will see beautiful views, wildlife and birds. An hour or so drive will bring you to the coast which has some of the best beaches in Spain. Aracena the main town in the area with shops bars restaurants garages etc is only a ten minute drive or a nice walk if you feel energetic. There are plenty of other villages around to explore some within walking distance all with their own particular charm. If you are lucky you may visit during one of the fiestas, this means all night music and entertainment for three or four nights the townhouse is on the edge of the village so you can still sleep if you need to. The only people I wouldn't recommend the townhouse to are disabled - ( the spiral staircase is not wheelchair friendly or people with severe walking dificulties but I believe this is mentioned on the website. We love this place, the house the hosts & the village and have made some good friends - you just have to accept this is the real Spain not a tourist area.
