“Absolutely fantastic – not a hotel, more a home from home :)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

What can we say about the Las Almenas… this place is a gem. The hotel is fantastically decorated, very well maintained and exceptionally clean. We went to Granada to see the sights and experience the culture, we were not disappointed. Jose, the hotel manager is fantastic, nothing is too much trouble and he’s more than happy to oblige as best he can. His knowledge and advise of things to do and see, and even the best time to get there should be taken seriously. He helped us no end in having a fantastic holiday. His hotel staff are also fantastic and friendly. The hotel is situated within easy reach of everything you’d need to enjoy your stay.

Any complaints?... Not a one.
Would we recommended the Las Almenas?... You bet we would.
Would we stay there again?... Without question :)

We booked this hotel for a 4 day stay in Granada. I was worried about the reviews which said it was on a noisy road as I don't sleep well. I slept brilliantly - without earplugs!
This is a wee gem.
The rooms are lovely, clean, roomy and well equipped with air conditioning, we had a great power shower and when there was a minor hiccup the staff offered to change our room right away which wasn't even necessary.
A simpe breakfast can be had for a few euros in the cafe bar next door.
There is a wonderful (older) gentleman in reception, whose English was a lot better than our Spanish. He was really charming and was like our personal tour guide each day giving us tips on something worth seeing. We walked from our hotel to the Alhambra - about 20-30 minutes perhaps but we stopped at little cafes along the way- it is about 10minutes stroll to the centre. Buses run from outside the door, the Senor star on reception will keep you right!
We have recommended it to our friends.

Room Tip: There are some rooms with a tiny private patio area which if you go as a couple may be nice but reme...

Hotel Las Almenas was very nice for a 2 day/2 night stay in Granada. It was well-located, only a short walk from the main square and many of the city's sights. Our room was bigger than most we encountered in Spain, and they took a lot of care to decorate the hotel in the Moorish style that Granada is famous for. There was Wifi in the lobby but not upstairs, but this isn't uncommon in Europe and was not a problem. There was a really cool patio type room near the restaurant that was beautiful and seemed to be popular with locals as well. The restaurant was pretty average but not too expensive. Definitely a great value!

I have no idea why Las Almenas is so inexpensive. Well, I do. It's about four blocks away from the main touristic center of Granada. But seriously, folks, take that bus another stop and save a bundle. Las Almenas is run by kind, helpful people. The rooms are huge and clean. And the price just can't be beat.

Loved it!
Nice big rooms, comfy bed, well equiped bathroom. We were in one of the rooms with a terrrace, which was huge, great for an early evening drink. Overlooks the main road, but the double glazing is so good, you can't hear any road noise at night.
The owner was very friendly and helpful, and obviously proud of the families hotel.
There is a bar, and cafe downstairs, which serves breakfast. However there is such a good selection of cafes around, that we only had breakfast on our last morning.

It might not be in the most fashionable location, but Granada is easily covered by foot, so it doesn't really matter.

The first thing that comes to mind about this hotel is just what great value for money it is. It isn't the most swish place we stayed at during our Spain trip, and to my irritation, our rooms were not ready until past 3pm (and we got no apology, just a shrug from the owner, "we're very busy, you know"), but the sheer value and good location makes you forget all that.
Las Almenas is bang in the middle of one of Granada's busiest roads. Take the shuttle bus from the airport, it's cheap and drops you right at the hotel doorstep - you don't need to take a cab! The hotel is surrounded by supermarkets, stores and cafes, so you have plenty of options for eating breakfast, even dinner, just a walk away, and I echo other TA reviewers who suggested Lizzeran, just 2 minutes walk away - great tapas and drinks at amazing prices. We even ate breakfast here - croissant, sandwiches, juice and coffee for very little. The hotel also has its own restaurant/bar, which we didn't get around to using.
The hotel rooms are comfortable and fairly spacious. The beds are decent, firm matresses but comfy. The aircon is effective, and the bathroom decent too, with a good shower. Safe, hairdryer, all there. Blackout blinds over the windows block out all light - great for those wanting to lie in. No tea/coffee maker in the room though - in my book that's a major minus as I can't function without my tea mornings & evenings. No fridge either. Inward facing room, so no noise that seemed to bother other reviewers, though the view was rather drab.
The Cathedral and Royal Chapel is a short walk away, and the Alhambra is a short bus ride away. The number 30 bus, as I recall. Taxis are very cheap too. This is an excellent location for exploring the city, and the bigger stores (Zara, etc) not too far a walk away.
Some of the reception's info was incorrect, however - he told us the airport bus was coming to the stop at 8.45 that morning. We hurtled there only to discover after a 30 min wait that there was no 8.45 bus that day! Had to hastily grab a taxi to rush to the airport. The check in process is rather slow and tedious, and they seem to prefer cash as room payment.
No complaints about anything else. As I said, great value overrules all else.
I noticed that all these 'hit' hotels on TA advertise the fact rather prominently at their receptions. TA is giving them lots of business!

Room Tip: If you are the sort that can't stand noise from a busy thoroughfare, pick a room facing the inne...

We could not have picked a better hotel. Very helpful and caring staff and the owners tried their best to assist us while we were searching for lost luggage .Fully rennovated hotel which remindes of a modern Riad in Morrocco. Rooms where very spacious and clean. Las Almenas located within short walking distance to city centre, many sites and shopping. Airport shuttle drops you off /picks you up just a few steps from the hotel.
We had a room to the side of the hotel, so noise was not an issue.
Wouldl definitely come back and stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms to the side of back of the building which are quieter
