We stayed in this hotel in August and we expected the best after reading all the reviews... and it indeed is a great place to stay. We loved it. Our only fear was that it would be too far from Granada's downtown, but it is not (at least in August when the traffic is not too bad). It's very easy by bus and only takes 15 minutes to get to the center. At night, we took our car. It's not easy though to find a parking space in Granada as you have to avoid all the tiny streets right in the center where it is totally forbidden to park and difficult to drive and find your way.
Talking about the car, the main reason I wanted to write this review was to tell you : don't never ever park your car in the street behind the hotel!! Everybody seems to do it, so unfortunately we did it ...and one night they broke many car windows parked in that street despite all the video camera system and the safety guards working for the hotel property. So don't do it! It's just wiser to pay 12 Euros for the hotel underground parking.
The hotel staff was nice and helped us thereafter, but we had to spend a whole morning trying to find a garage to have the window glass repaired. And of course they didn't have a similar glass available so we ended up with a piece of plastic to close the window.
The hotel is located in a luxurious and apparently safe neighborhood but actually it's not so safe! In the street behind the hotel the houses are all covered with tags. Should this should have warned us?
Anyway, the hotel is great and eventhough it's located in the surburb of Granada it's very convenient as it's right on the loop, so with a car, it's very easy to reach the Alhambra area or the downtown. The bus stop is only 5 mns from the hotel and there are lots of buses. There is also a luxurious Café right across the bus stop for breakfast which offers a wide selection of good French pastries. It's very noisy inside... but as always in Spain!
The main compensation to the distance is the pool! It's so nice to have a nice hotel pool in Granada in August. The pool area is really nice with sunbeds, a few large mattresses and a pool bar. It's true that the sun disappears behind the hotel at around 5:30 which seems very early in Spain. It's a bit of a shame...
The oblong hotel lobby is just gorgeous with all the rooms around it. It's very "vanguardia" style, very special, with a nice bar area, white sofas accross the reception, the fountains, a very good restaurant etc. The restaurant's decoration is black and white, I just loved it. It's not the usual modern decoration you can find in any new 4 star hotels. It's much more creative.
Be advised that the restaurant's menu advertized outside is only served for lunch (and this is not specified on the menu!) so for dinner we had to take à la carte, which of course, was much more expensive than we expected. The portions were rather small but they really have a good chef.
The rooms are nice and bright with orange tones. I was not so convinced with the toilets but I'll just let you discover them and will leave this to your own appreciation...
