Before I write my glowing review of Villa Oniria in Granada, Spain, I just wanted to establish that I am not in the employment of the hotel or any partner organisation, I am merely a visitor who completely loved the place!
First things first. I am in my early twenties and went to Granada for a few nights with my girlfriend. I booked the hotel through an internet website for around £100 a night.
I'm not sure what the history behind the hotel is, but the Villa Oniria is a beautiful building located on a backstreet in the centre of Granada. The location is just right, far enough back from one of the main roads in the city to avoid the noise of the hustle and bustle, but still only minutes from restaurants, sights, shops and other conveniences.
The decor is stunning. Marble on the floors, a serene water feature in the lobby and big winding staircase leading up to all floors. There is a lovely bar area and restaurant (which not uncommon to most hotels is quite expensive relative to restaurants in the city, though wiht very nice food) and a really nice outside area with tables attached to the restaurant and seating for the bar and for relaxing, along with more running water and nice plants.
As far as I could tell the hotel seems quite small, with only about 30 rooms or so. This makes for a quaint atmosphere and good service.
There is a really really nice spa (which disappointingly costs 20 euros per person). It includes a small swimming pool with some high powered water jets, presumably for some kind of massage effect, a jacuzzi and a sauna. The whole thing is dimly lit and absolutely ideal for relaxing after a day of sightseeing!
I think we were given an upgrade on our room which was much bigger than we had expected based on other reviews on TripAdvisor. As per the rest of the hotel, the decor and furnishings were excellent. The bed was probably one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in! We had a little balcony over the street and another window overlooking the outside dining area.
The staff were very helpful, answering any of our queries and organising various things for us. To put the icing on the cake, the hotel provides a free taxi service!
As you can probably tell I enjoyed my stay in villa Oniria, and I would highly recommend it, especially to young and older couples.
