Me and my wife spent two nights in this hotel during our visit to Granada. I choose the Real de La Alhambra after having read the other reviews and considering the attractive rate for a 4-stars hotel (60 EUR/night).
Here you have our impressions:
Pros:
• As most of the previous reviewer wrote, the hotel is brand new and features a very "stylish" indoor: our room was quite large and equipped with modern, "clean" design furniture, as well as an LCD TV set. The "Real de Alhambra" offers all standard services for a 4-stars hotel (continental/hot breakfast, in-room restaurant, laundry service, pool, etc.), though we did not use them due to the limited time available
• The hotel features a big, indoor car parking, which is a plus because you can leave your car if you decide not to drive into Granada (see the "cons" on this subject). In July/August the parking was offered at only 8 EUR/day, and the last day we were kindly allowed to leave our car up to the afternoon with no extra charge.
Cons:
• Despite what I read in other reviews, the hotel is located outside the town, close to the "Ronda sur" highway end, in a place not particularly attractive during day and night. The bus no. 33 brings you to the city centre in 5-10 mins, but runs only until 11 PM, so that you will need to take a taxi (approx. fare 6 EUR) to come back whenever going to the restaurant at "spanish" dinner time (i.e. after 9 PM).
• The distance between the hotel and the Alhambra is comparable to the one from the Alhambra itself and the city centre (at least moving by bus), so the "Real de la Alhambra" seems not particularly convenient from this point of view
• I made the reservation through the Macià hotels website and faced some confirmation problems, which were solved only after a series of e-mails and phone calls. In any case, according to their reservation policy, my credit card was immediately charged for the whole period of stay (two nights), though I would have been refunded in case of cancellation up to 48 hrs before the check-in date. Take in account this when booking directly at this hotel.
In the end, the hotel is very good in itself, and probably designed to host large groups. However, should I come back to Granada again, I would probably choose another hotel in a more central location.
