We have recently returned from a two night stay at the hotel and have been surprised at some of the recent comments about its location. So many people have said in the past that it is slightly out of town and you need to catch the bus in, so I can't understand why people who stay there now say it's in the middle of nowhere and seemed surprised, yes it is, but there is a very good bus service into the centre, which takes 10 minutes, bus number 33 which runs every 15 mins until 11.30 at night, so it is so easy to go back into town to eat and still get back to the hotel afterwards. We chose this hotel because we had driven there and didn't want the trouble of driving in Granada and parking away from the hotel. We got a really good deal and for a 4 star hotel found its value to be very good, apart from the food and the rooms were large, very comfortable. We swam in the pool both evenings we were there which was really welcoming after walking round the Alhambra all afternoon, and although disappointed at the restaurant menu which appeared expensive, we walked 10 minutes towards the centre of Granada and came across a number of tapas bars/reasonable restaurants where the locals obviously went and had meals which we thoroughly enjoyed, for less than 35 Euros for the two of us, including a bottle of wine. We found the hotel staff to be very helpful and pleasant but were slightly surprised to have to pay a deposit for pool towels of 10 Euros each, which of course was given back when we returned them. Our only real negative comment would be their lack of attempt to get you to eat at the hotel, they actually suggested we eat in town rather than pushing the restaurant. One recommendation I would make to them, is to offer a bar menu as a more casual alternative to the expensive restaurant.
For info on the Alhambra, book your tickets in advance on the internet to choose your time to visit the Nasrid Palaces and ignore the comment that only credit/debit cards issued in Spain can be used in the machines to print your tickets, this isn't true. We were very surprised to get there at 1pm to find the entrance area almost deserted, no queue at the ticket machines and spent a lovely afternoon in the Alhambra, we also took advantage of the audio guide and found this really useful, once you get into the Nasrid Palace you can take your time walking round and found that most people walked from room to room quite quickly, but listening to the audio guide meant you took a bit longer and most people had disappeared, although we did find we got caught up in a couple of tour groups.
A very good tip which we picked up from other reviews was directions to the hotel, as it didn't come up on our Sat Nav, was that as you come to the end of the Ronda Sur, and come out of the tunnel, keep in the left hand lane signed Alhambra, and when you enter the roundabout the hotel is straight ahead of you with the entrance to the car park just to the right.
